Exceeding expectations in three preseason games, trying to force Mike Sullivan’s hand
New York, NY- Halfway through the New York Rangers’ preseason schedule, they have several players who are primed and ready for Broadway. The highly talented prospects are Gabe Perreault, Brennan Othmann, and called up from Hartford last season was Brett Berard, but now Noah Laba has emerged as a possible explosive player who wants to make noise and start the season at the Garden.
Laba on a current point streak
In the first three games of the preseason, Laba has earned four assists. He got his first in the 5-3 win at the Devils, then two in the overtime loss to the Bruins, one of the two was on the shorthanded goal by Vladislav Gavrikov, then a fun backhand between the legs pass to Brett Berard in front of the net and near post against the Islanders in a 5-4 loss.
Laba’s confidence is positive
You can see how this kid, who just left Colorado College to play professionally, and had a stint of professional hockey at the Hartford WolfPack in the AHL last season, wants to join the team right away to make himself useful and contribute this season.
Laba might head to Hartford
As Laba has three more preseason games at the Islanders, against the Devils, and at the Bruins, to impress Sullivan, some believe the current situation with Jusso Parssinen will take the third Center position, and his contract will send Laba down to Hartford and start in the AHL this season.
If Laba makes the team
What happens if Laba does make the team? How would this work? Would Sullivan send Parssinen down to Hartford instead? Or will Sullivan keep both and scratch Laba? The truth is, Mike Sullivan might have a tough decision to make, but overall, Laba is making noise, and the fans want him on the team. We will see what happens.
