Heading to Charm City to face Lamar Jackson and friends
Florham Park, NJ- After facing a tough loss to the New England Patriots last week on Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets are ready for a big Week 12 matchup when they travel down I-95 past Pennsylvania and head over to Maryland to face the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
Justin Fields is benched
After a strong performance at the Bengals, but two consecutive poor performances at home to the Browns and at the Patriots, Justin Fields has officially been benched by head coach Aaron Glen. He turns to veteran Tyrod Taylor, who has played well, especially in the attempted comeback at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during Week 3.
The Ravens are back in the hunt
After a slow start to the season, the Baltimore Ravens, who began at the bottom of the AFC North Division, have climbed up the ladder and are currently at five and five and in second place. A game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and back to being their old selves again, looking to make the playoffs.
“So, we get another chance to go against a really good team. So, we’re looking forward to going out to Baltimore. We’re looking forward to competing. We’re looking forward to trying to get a win in this game, and that’s the only thing that we’re thinking about. The guys had a really good week of practice. Tyron had a really good week of practice. The defense had a good week of practice. So, again, we’re looking forward to going out there and getting us a win,” said Head Coach Aaron Glenn
The Ravens’ offense will be difficult
It’s not just Lamar Jackson you have to be worried about; it’s the other components of the offense the Jets need to stop. Derrick Henry at Running Back. Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely at Tight End, but the Wide Receiver department has been lacking a bit, but still dangerous.
“Andrews has been a damn good tight end, you know, throughout his career. We know that, and they seem they keep a good amount of those guys. We know Lively’s a guy that looks like a receiver at some points at that line of a tight end, so our guys have to really be able to challenge the really deep ball.
The red zone is where we have to be really, really good. That’s when those two guys really show up, so I mean, we have to be on it. I mean, this team can strike you in several different ways, the tight ends, Zay, as far as him being able to create plays, and then also Lamar So, and then we all know Derrick is a handful himself. So we just got to make sure we’re on point when it comes to Sunday.”
Mason Taylor is becoming a weapon
The rookie Tight End, Mason Taylor, is looking good and making plays for the Jets, but he needs more targets. In the last game, he wasn’t targeted that much last game. As a second-round draft pick, he is one of those important pieces to make the Jets offense more dynamic.
“Absolutely. I mean, he’s one of our dynamic players, so he’s always in the plan of making sure we get him the ball. I mean, things happen sometimes where it doesn’t get to him, but there’s not a week that goes by, you know, that we don’t plan on trying to get him the ball, and he’s always shown that, you know, what he can do as far as a receiving tight end and as a blocker. But being one of our threats, we have to make sure we get him the ball, so you’re absolutely right about that.”
AZ Thomas will be off concussion protocol
Azareye’h Thomas, who suffered a concussion from his own teammate, Jamien Sherwood, in the Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns, is coming off of Concussion Protocol. He will have a big game against a Ravens team that is surging right now and looking to challenge the Steelers for the top of the division.
“AZ will be coming off his concussion protocol, so he should be cleared after today’s practice. Which would be good to get him back out there. When it comes to this game”
Kris Boyd is doing just fine
After learning about the news of Kris Boyd being shot while out in Manhattan, the news was that he will be able to make it, and his family is happy to know he will be recovering. The Jets are also thankful for him surviving this tragedy that nearly took his life, as was Head Coach Aaron Glenn.
“Man, a ton. And not just that, just everybody who was involved for the most part. Once I heard about the situation, and I’m talking about Chris in general, the first thing I thought about, he just had a kid. And I’m thinking about his wife. I’m thinking about his kid. And I want to make sure that he’s okay. And that’s the only thing that really went through my mind.
And anybody else that was involved, make sure those guys are okay. There’s a process to this, which I won’t get into. But I’m happy. I’m happy the fact that he’s going to come out of this thing. Really, really well. Have you been able to talk to him? Yes, I have. Yes, I have. And, again, that’s what eases my mind is that he’s in good spirits. His wife and his kid, you know, they’re in good spirits, and he’ll walk away from this just fine.”
