Rangers drop their last preseason game at the Bruins

Final tuneup before the new season opens at the Garden.

Boston, MA- The New York Rangers are finishing off their preseason schedule as they traveled up to Boston, Massachusetts, to face the Bruins at the TD Bank Garden. A Saturday matinee went down in smoke as the Rangers couldn’t muster enough on offense to get a win, as they fell to the Bruins by a final score of four to one.

The Bruins strike first

Morgan Geekie protected the puck at the near corner, quickly made a pass as Fraser Minten was near him along the near faceoff circle. He saw Nikita Zadorov trailing along the far side, made the pass, and Zadorov converted at 5:55 of the first period.

Puck down low, shoot it up high

Viktor Arvidsson and Casey Mittelstadt were behind the net and along the end boards, passing the puck to each other. When Mittelstadt quickly saw Pavel Zacha at the near side, he made the quick pass, and Zacha, with a quick shot, beat Igor Shesterkin at 14:39 of the first period.

The Bruins make it three on the power play

David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy were at points passing the puck to each other, then McAvoy ripped a quick pass down low. Deflecting the puck in front was Elias Lindholm, converting on the power play at 16:48 of the second period.

Noah Laba’s last impression before the new season begins

The Rangers were on the power play as they wanted to end the shutout bid for Jeremy Swayman. Mika Zibanejad at the near boards quickly passed the puck back to the point toward Adam Fox. He shot the puck toward the net, and in front to deflect it in was Noah Laba for his second of the preseason at 16:23.

The final seconds tick down

Zadorov scored his second of the game into an empty net at 18:31 of the third period to end the afternoon for the Rangers. The Bruins won the last preseason game by a final score of four to one. Now it’s time to begin a brand new season as the Rangers will celebrate their Centennial Season starting against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, September 7th.
