A throwback to when the Hockey Club started in the NHL on November 16th, 1926
New York, NY- On Thursday, September 18th, the New York Rangers officially introduced their Centennial Throwback Jersey when the hockey club began and shared Madison Square Garden with the defunct New York Americans. Their original owner was George Lewis “Tex” Rickard, originally a boxing promoter from Henrietta, Texas, and he built the third Garden at 8th Avenue between W.49th and W. 50th Streets.
Jersey design
The original color of the Rangers’ sweater is a shade of blue from the year of the club’s founding, with the deep red and cream hoops on the sleeve and the bottom trim. The neckline is also in a cream color, the Centennial patch is over the left shoulder, while Mark Messier’s Game 7 business logo patch is on the right.
Inside the collar is a printed saying and date that says “OPENING NIGHT,” With the date of the very first Rangers Game at the Garden. At the bottom of the jersey, along the back side of the white piping, is a blue tab with a red apple and the number 100 inside of it.
Mark Messier Introduces the Jersey
On the New York Rangers website, former Rangers Captain and six-time Stanley Cup Champion, Mark Messier, introduced the Centennial Jersey to all the Rangers fans while a montage of pictures and videos of all the past players who wore the sweaters from the beginning until now.
Familiar design
For most of you that has seen this particular design before, this was originally done during the 2018 NHL Winter Classic against the Buffalo Sabres at Citi Field. The Blue was Darker, the hoops on the sleeve and the bottom trim are of the current style, with the shoulder design of their white road jersey. While some believe they could’ve done it better, the Rangers went safe with historical replication

Monday, October 20th, Saturday, November 8th, Sunday, November 16th, Saturday, December 13th, Thursday, January 8th, Monday, January 26th, Thursday, February 25th, Thursday, March 5th, then on Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday, April 8th against the Buffalo Sabres.
