Following a 27-yard field goal as time expired to give Army a 20-17 victory over Air Force in Colorado Springs, kicker Dawson Jones was named one of Lou Groza’s Stars of the Week.
Jones’ game-winning gave Army their first three-game winning streak over Air Force since 1976-78. Week 10 also saw Jones hit on multiple field goals (44 yards & 27 yards) for the first time in his young career.
Not only did Jones’ kick give them the victory on the day against Air Force, but it set up the Army-Navy Game on December 13th as a winner-takes-all game, with the victor taking home the coveted Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, the honor Navy took from Army last season when they defeated the Black Knights 31-13 in Landover, Maryland.
