The Jets had no answers for the Bills in Week 2
East Rutherford, NJ- After a positive start against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Jets went into their first AFC East Divisional Game against the Buffalo Bills to try and recreate that same feeling, but instead, it felt like it went backward, and more. They couldn’t get anything going on offense, while the defense couldn’t stop the Bills from getting points all afternoon.
Justin Fields didn’t have a good day
Fields was stopped and shut down all day. Any chance at a sustained drive was ended very quickly. The Jets couldn’t get anything going on the ground or in the air. Halfway through the fourth quarter, Fuelds went to the blue tent, then the locker room, as he suffered a concussion after he hit the back of his head on the field turf from a tackle by Joey Bosa.
Jets’ Defense continues to get run over
The defense had multiple opportunities to stop the Bills, and failed to do so. When they had a chance to get a sack or a big stop, Josh Allen found ways to break through. Earned chunk plays, and another costly error as Michael Clemons made contact with his helmet on Allen, earned a 15-yard penalty after Michael Carter II made a big play, knocking down the ball on third down.
The Offensive Line gives up sacks
After five and a half quarters of the new 2025 NFL Season, the Jets finally gave up a sack as Fields got taken down three times, while Tyrod Taylor, coming in for the injured Fields, was sacked once late in the fourth quarter. The quarterbacks still had strong protection, but couldn’t hold on.
Emotional Let Down
It was a poor game all around for the Jets. All the positives they took from week one have disappeared in this game against the Bills. They must pick up the pieces and fix these issues for their next game. They must earn the faith of the fanbase back to finally get back into the positives they earned last week.
“When it comes to this game, very disappointing, like very disappointing. All three phases, to be honest with you. And I just told the players, first off, I got to take a look at myself. I want to take a look at every player. I want to take a look at every coach, right? There’s no stone that won’t go unturned, right? without figuring out the issue. But I do know this, and I told these guys this: I’ve been here before with two teams in New Orleans and Detroit. The one thing that we’re not gonna do is we’re not gonna waver, not one bit. Not one bit. The brand that we say that we’re gonna play right, we’re gonna play that type of game right. And our guys will get better. The only thing we have to do is get ready to go back to work, all right, on Wednesday, and we’ll go from there. I do know that,” said Aaron Glenn
