Tampa Bay, FL – Army West Point women’s tennis didn’t just win on the road — they announced themselves.
With a 4–0 sweep of UT, the Black Knights earned their first road win of the season, improved to 10–2 overall, and pushed their streak to 10 straight victories.
The bigger picture is what jumps off the page: Army is now 9–0 at home and 1–2 on the road — and this one mattered because it finally put a road result next to the dominance they’ve already shown at West Point.
Doubles: Army strikes first
Army set the tone immediately, taking two of three doubles courts to secure the opening point.
- No. 1: Madison Smith / Stacey Samonte (USMA) def. Karine Kulidjian / Rebecca Presley (UT), 6–1
- No. 2: Emily Ruckno / Olivia Mellynchuk (USMA) fell to Mia Zorrilla / Nicole Casas (UT), 7–6
- No. 3: Vennmukiil Mathivanan / Ylan Duong (USMA) def. Sophie Wagner / Alexandra Chebli (UT), 6–0
The clincher at No. 3 wasn’t close. A 6–0 result in doubles is the tennis version of controlling the entire possession — clean holds, pressure returns, and no free points.

Singles: three straight-set finishes seal it
After doubles, Army did what good teams do on the road: close quickly.
The Black Knights earned straight-set wins at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 to reach four points and end the match.
- No. 2: Olivia Mellynchuk (USMA) def. Karine Kulidjian (UT), 7–5, 6–3
- No. 3: Olivia Manson (USMA) def. Ida Axelsson (UT), 6–4, 6–3
- No. 5: Alexandra Oshidar (USMA) def. Gabriela Sanchez (UT), 6–2, 6–2
Mellynchuk’s first set at No. 2 was the swing point — a tight 7–5 that could’ve gone either way. She won it, then immediately turned the match into a two-set finish.
Manson followed with a composed win at No. 3, and Oshidar delivered the cleanest close of the day at No. 5, never letting UT settle into extended rallies.

Still on court: unfinished matches at the stoppage
Because Army reached four points, play was stopped with three singles matches still in progress:
- No. 1: Emma Sy (USMA) vs. Rebecca Presley (UT) — in progress
- No. 4: Chelsie Son (USMA) vs. Linn Eriksson Sundling (UT) — in progress
- No. 6: Allison Harris (USMA) vs. Maxence Lippens (UT) — in progress
The takeaway: dominance travels — and now the streak has a road win attached
Ten straight wins is impressive anywhere.
But winning streaks mean more when you can take them away from home, manage the early doubles pressure, and finish the match before it turns into a three-hour grind.
Army did exactly that.
Now comes the next test — and it’s the one that always gets circled.
