BOCA RATON, FL— Army West Point softball split its second day at the FAU Paradise Classic on Saturday, opening with a 3–2 win over Delaware before running into a hot Ohio State lineup in an 11–0, five-inning loss.
The Black Knights moved to 1–3 on the young season, while Ohio State improved to 1–2.
Game 2: Ohio State 11, Army 0 (5)
Army had an early chance to set the tone at the top of the first when Taylor Brown reached on a hard-hit ball that forced an error at shortstop, but the Black Knights couldn’t bring her home.
Ohio State answered immediately.
After Brown made a tough snag on a lineout to open the bottom of the first, the Buckeyes followed with two singles and a three-run homer to jump in front 3–0. Starter Amanda Eaglin regrouped quickly, striking out two to limit the damage.
Army’s offense couldn’t find traction in the middle innings, going down in order in the second and third — including two strikeouts in the second.

Ohio State added on in the second with three singles to make it 4–0, but Army cut off a bigger inning when Ashton White turned a key double play to end the frame.
The third inning decided it.
Ohio State scored seven runs in the bottom of the third — doing major damage while mixing power with pressure. A leadoff homer made it 5–0, prompting a pitching change to freshman Ashlyn Wright. The Buckeyes loaded the bases via two walks and a hit-by-pitch, then broke it open with a grand slam.
Junior Libby Levendoski entered next, but the Buckeyes kept rolling with a double and another home run to push the margin to 11–0.

Army used four pitchers in the game (Eaglin, Wright, Levendoski, and Breanna Izzo), with Izzo working a clean fourth aside from a walk.
In the fifth, Breanna Coonfare reached on an error and advanced into scoring position, but Army couldn’t cash in, and the game ended via run rule.
Saturday snapshot (two games)
Across the day, Taylor Brown led Army’s offense with two hits and an RBI, while Caitlyn Newburn and Emma Murchison also drove in runs in the win over Delaware. Hannah Laub and Sienna Tepley added hits as well.
In the circle, Breanna Izzo anchored the staff across two appearances, logging five innings on the day with five strikeouts, earning the win against Delaware and not allowing a run.
