WEST POINT, N.Y. — Army West Point women’s tennis senior Emma Sy was named Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week on February 3, after delivering the weekend’s defining point — and doing it in her first career match at No. 1 singles.
Sy clinched Army’s 4–3 comeback win over Stony Brook on Saturday night, defeating Elena Lobo Corral 6–4, 2–6, 6–3on Court 1. The Port Washington, N.Y., native battled for 2:37, then flipped the third set after trailing 3–2, closing the door when the Black Knights needed it most.
The award capped a day where the Black Knights went 2–0 on Saturday and 3–0 for the weekend, even after dropping both doubles points on Saturday — a reminder that this team can win matches multiple ways.
