Red Bulls Officially Completes the Transfer of Mexican Midfielder Jorge Ruvalcaba

From Pumas to Red Bull New York

Harrison, NJ- Red Bull New York has officially completed the transfer of UNAM Pumas midfielder Jorge Ruvalcaba on a four-and-a-half-year contract through the 2029-30 season, and has an option for the 2030-31 season. He will occupy the club’s third Designated Player spot, but he remains TAM Eligible (Target Allocation Money). The transfer fee was undisclosed.

Ruvalcaba’s Pumas career

The 24-year-old spent five seasons with UNAM Pumas in Liga MX, making 100 appearances and scoring 16 goals with 9 assists. In the 2025 Liga MX Apertura Season, Ruvalcaba made 16 appearances, scoring five goals and three assists. He scored against the current champions, Toluca, third-place Cruz Azul, and fourth-place Club America during the Apertura Season.

“We are very excited to welcome Jorge to our club,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He is a dynamic, creative attacker that has shown great potential and a strong work ethic, and we are confident that he will contribute to our success both on and off the field.”

International Career

He had one appearance for the Mexican National Team in a match against Paraguay on November 19th, 2025, and played 60 minutes. He featured on the Mexican U-21 National Team, as he made four appearances, scoring one goal in a two goals to nil victory over Indonesia in the 2022 Maurice Revello Tournament.

“Jorge is a talented, young player that we are very excited to have join our club,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We believe he will integrate well into our team and his versatility and pace will give us additional options in the attacking third. We are looking forward to working with him as he looks to integrate and contribute to the success of the team.”
