Another homegrown player traded
Harrison, NJ- Red Bull New York has traded Defensive Midfielder and Warren, NJ native Daniel Edelman to St. Louis City SC for $850,000 in total General Allocation Money (GAM). The club will receive $500,000 this season, $300,000 in 2027, and $150,000 if certain performance metrics are met. The club will also earn a percentage if Edelman gets sold to another club.
Edelman’s Red Bull career
He began with the senior side in the 2022 season after two years with the Red Bulls Two Team. He played in 118 matches in all competitions in his Red Bulls career, scoring three goals and six assists. He was the fifth New Jersey Native to accumulate 100 appearances, joining Tab Ramos, Tony Meola, John Tolkin, and Sean Davis.
Edelman scored his first MLS Goal against Inter Miami on August 27th, 2022. He scored the winning penalty in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs in Game 2 of the first round at Red Bull Arena to knock out the Columbus Crew and scored an assist against C.F. Monterrey in the 2025 Leagues Cup Group Stage.
“We thank Daniel for his contributions to our club and wish him the best in the next chapter of his career,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He has represented our club with the utmost professionalism and dedication, and we appreciate everything he has done for the organization.”
What St. Louis City is receiving
The Supporters of St. Louis City will be getting an energetic defensive midfielder who makes strong tackles and can, at times, make a strong pass to create a scoring chance, or get a loose ball and make something happen on frame. He can be a bit overbearing on those slide tackles, but his motor is nonstop.
