TORONTO, ON, CN — The New York Sirens made franchise history Tuesday night, riding a two-goal performance from Kristýna Kaltounková and a flawless 31-save shutout by Kayle Osborne to defeat the Toronto Sceptres 2-0 at Coca-Cola Coliseum. The win extends New York’s streak to a team-record four straight in the PWHL era, all in regulation, and lifts them to second place in the league standings—just one point behind the Boston Fleet.
This four-game winning streak ties the mark last achieved by the club under its previous name, the Metropolitan Riveters, at the end of the 2022-23 PHF season before the PWHL takeover. The Riveters’ franchise record for consecutive wins stands at 11, set during their historic 2017-18 campaign—a season in which the club last posted a winning streak of five or more games.
Game Recap
After a scoreless opening frame, the Sirens broke through early in the second period. Kaltounková redirected a shot from defender Jincy Roese at 2:50, with rookie Casey O’Brien picking up the secondary assist—her seventh point in just 11 career games, tying her atop the rookie scoring leaderboard. Despite being outshot 31-22, New York’s defense and Osborne’s poise proved impenetrable, especially as Toronto pressed with 12 shots in the third.
Kaltounková sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final seconds, joining O’Brien atop the rookie scoring race and marking her third straight game with a goal. The Sceptres’ Elaine Chuli made 20 saves in a losing effort, while Toronto’s struggles at home continued—now with a franchise-worst five-game home losing streak.
Standout Performances & Notables
- Kayle Osborne: 31 saves for her third shutout of the season, tying the PWHL lead and becoming only the fourth goalie in league history with three shutouts in a single season.
- Kristýna Kaltounková: Two goals, including the game-winner and an empty-net tally. She now has six goals in her last five games and leads all rookies in scoring.
- Casey O’Brien: Picked up her fourth assist, maintaining her lead among rookie scorers.
- Jincy Roese: Assisted for the second consecutive game, continuing her consistent playmaking.
Sirens Head Coach Greg Fargo on Osborne’s impact:
“Kayle’s play has been a huge part of our success. Coming into the season, she wasn’t one of the returning, established starting goalies in the league, but in a short amount of time she’s proven she belongs among the best. She’s shown she can help this team win. Not only is her confidence growing, but our confidence in her has grown ten times. She’s a great puck stopper, and to me, she’s the best goalie in the world at playing the puck. That makes a big difference for us in so many ways.”

Dayle Ross on her return to the ice after injury:
“When it happened, I played an entire season on a torn ACL, so I try to remind myself that I’m not actually injured anymore and not to believe that narrative. I really focus on telling myself there’s no mental block. I have to believe that, because so much of the game is mental. It worked for me today, and I’m proud of myself for that.”

Quotes from the Opposition
Toronto defender Ella Shelton:
“I think we had a bit of a rollercoaster of a game… We get a lot of pucks to the net, I think it’s up to us to make sure that those pucks are always on net, not too far left or right, giving us an opportunity to bury some goals. Goals for us aren’t coming as plentiful as other teams are getting, but for us, it’s just that we’re going to win games with pretty close margins and for us finding ways to bear down on second chances, create those second and third chances as a team.”

Toronto Head Coach Troy Ryan:
“A lot of times you get your five-on-five confidence, and that helps your power play, and then your power play gives you confidence for five-on-five. At this point in the season and you have two power play goals, sometimes it’s a personnel thing, sometimes it’s a structural thing, sometimes it’s a confidence thing — and I think it’s actually that we’re not getting enough power play opportunities to get any reps and that’s more of a five-on-five thing because if you try to score the majority of your goals on entry, you don’t wear people down with offensive zone play… so you don’t get as many penalties [against].”
