Whippany, NJ- Per sources, the New York Red Bulls are having discussions with Minnesota United FC about trading midfielder Peter Stroud for General Allocation Money (GAM). Stroud’s time with the Red Bulls has been as a utility midfielder, plugging in the gaps with Gerhard Struber, then Troy Lesesne in the 2023 season. Then these last two seasons under Sandro Schwarz.
Stroud’s Red Bulls career
In three seasons with the Red Bulls, Stroud has played 66 matches and started in 43 of them, and compiled 3,588 minutes. He assisted four times, has been booked nine times, but never earned a red card. He showed promise under Schwarz in the 2024 season until he was injured in a slide tackle challenge and missed significant time. Unfortunately, upon his return, he never reached those same levels as prior to the injury.
If this rumor turns out to be true, we wish Peter all the best in Minnesota, and all eyes are on Julian DeGuzman to see how the roster shapes out before the start of the season.
