Keeping, talking, and saying goodbye to the Roster
Whippany, NJ- The New York Red Bulls have made the following moves on their roster to start their 2026 season. Several players have been kept, while some are in talks to remain, and others have had their options declined. We will see down the road which players the Red Bulls will either bring in through the winter transfer window or make available through free agency within the league.
Options that have been picked up
Director of Sport Julian DeGuzman has picked up the options for Midfielder Peter Stroud and Centerback Sean Nealis. Having Stroud shore up the midfield is a good sign, but the most important piece to keep is Sean Nealis. Having him with Noah Eile in the middle of the park is a strong sign that this tandem will continue to thwart attacking runs from the opposition.
Currently in talks to remain with the club
Centerback Tim Parker and Goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci are currently in talks to remain with the club. After being traded away to the Houston Dynamo in 2021, Parker spent two seasons there. He was selected in the expansion draft for St. Louis City SC in 2023. Split time with them and New England in 2024 until he became a free agent. He had a solid season in 2025.
A.J. Marcucci was the backup goalkeeper to Carlos Coronel and played in their three U.S. Open Cup matches this past season. A win away at Colorado Springs Switchbacks of USL Championship, A penalty shootout win against FC Dallas after a two-goal draw in regulation and extra time, then a loss at the Philadelphia Union, which led to his knee injury after leaping for the ball and landing wrong on the pitch.
Marcucci also played in two of the three Leagues Cup matches with Shootout wins and a win in the regular season against Real Salt Lake.
Saying goodbye and thank you
The Red Bulls declined the options of Right fullback Kyle Duncan and Curtis Ofori. Both will seek employment elsewhere. Also, Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel is officially out of contract and will not return to the club. This means New York Red Bulls II Goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk will occupy a homegrown roster spot beginning on the first day of the new year.
