Florham Park, NJ- The New York Jets are ready to face their next opponent and their AFC North opponent, as they head to Paycor Field to face Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets will make another attempt to get their first win of the season before the Bye week comes in the first weekend of November.
Garrett Wilson and Sauce are out
The Jets will be without both their newly paid superstars, as Garrett Wilson is still out with a knee injury, and Sauce Gardner will be out with a concussion. They will stay back in New Jersey to see their team perform on television.
Tyrod Taylor is ruled out
Reported by Brian Costello of the New York Post, it’s official that Tyrod Taylor is out due to a knee injury, so Brady Cook will be elevated from the practice squad to the backup role, and Justin Fields will be starting again in Week 8.
Quincy Williams returns from injury
Outside left middle linebacker Quincy Williams has practiced for the full week after going on Injured Reserve and missing his mandatory four games of the 2025 schedule. Having him back will further boost the defense’s ability to stop this potent Bengals offense.
Facing Joe Flacco
Since being traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Bengals, Flacco has looked dangerous and knows the type of weapons he has, especially the wide receivers that are in front of him. The Jets’ secondary must do an amazing job to make sure they don’t get anything down the sidelines or get wide open.
We recall what Joe Flacco did for the Jets in three games during the 2022 season, when Zach Wilson was injured during the preseason against the Philadelphia Eagles. What looked like a 13-point win for the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 of that season became a miracle win.
An easy, wide-open touchdown to Corey Davis down the far sideline, then a Braden Mann onside kick that the Jets recovered at the near sideline. In the final moments of the fourth quarter, Flacco threw a 15-yard bomb into the hands of Garrett Wilson for his second touchdown and game-winner to tie the score, and the extra point gave the Jets the lead. Winning it 31-30.
Aaron Glenn’s spat on the Starting Quarterback
While just learning about Justin Fields becoming the starting quarterback this week because of Tyrod Taylor’s injury, kept him out. During Friday’s media press conference, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had a war of words with a member of the media on why he didn’t want to disclose who he was choosing as the starter.
He wanted to keep the Bengals uninformed of the starting quarterback, and having these war of words with the media member was the wrong way to go. Glenn is in no position to play these games because he is a rookie head coach, his offense has been putrid, with no touchdowns in two straight games, poor decision-making, and lastly, the team is 0-7.
Glenn might have the backing of Robert “Woody” Johnson, but right now, in the eyes of the fans and the entire NFL, he is on thin ice. No one trusts him anymore to be a head coach, and many feel he should be fired at the end of the season or after the bye week. All that pomp and circumstance he gave is long gone. If Glenn can’t learn from his mistakes, he will never be seen as a real head coach.
