A poor loss, as the offense couldn’t muster any positive plays
London, England- The New York Jets went to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, to face a Denver Broncos team that wasn’t on par itself. The defense looked improved, but the offense sputtered almost every drive they had. At the end of the game, the Jets lost to the Broncos by the final score of 13-11.
Aaron Glenn looked indecisive
In his first five weeks of the 2025 season, Aaron Glenn was brash and overly aggressive in how to approached the game. All of a sudden, against the Broncos, inside the final two minutes of each half, Glenn looked indecisive and burned timeouts at the wrong time.
He had the deer in the headlights look within the final 23 seconds, allowing the clock to run down to end the first half, which made Garrett Wilson upset and ask questions. Towards the end of the fourth quarter, the Jets, while not at Nick Folk’s range, could’ve been given a chance to do so, but gave up a sack to end the game at the Denver 46 yard line.
Offense was a shambles
For the first time in this season, the Jets’ offense couldn’t get anything going. While the defense and the kick return game helped them reach field goal range on the first two drives, both possessions resulted in three-and-outs, which led to field goals. The offensive line allowed nine sacks to the Broncos’ defense.
Justin Fields had his worst performance as a Jets quarterback. Completed nine passes out of 17 attempts for 45 yards and lost 55yards in the nine sacks he received from the Broncos defense.
Finally a turnover
The first possession for the Broncos, at 3rd down and seven yards, Bo Nix took the snap, rolled to his right, and threw the ball to Troy Franklin. Jarvis Brownlee forced a fumble by knocking the ball out of Franklin’s hands. Running at full speed, Andre Cisco smothered the ball at the Denver 37-yard line, making the defense’s first turnover of the season.
Run Nwangwu, Run
After the Broncos tied the score with their own field goal, Jets kickoff returner Kene Nwangwu received the ball at his own 4 yard line, fought his way out of tackle and ran it for 72 yards, before getting tackled down at the Denver 24 yard line.
Defense improved
The first five weeks haven’t been great for defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. His team has been giving up a lot of yards and a lot of points, but this game was their best as they held the Broncos to a single touchdown and two field goals. Despite the loss, this was their best effort, and Wilks made adjustments at halftime.
A Safety Dance
In the fourth quarter, after punting the ball to the Denver 3 yard line, the Jets’ defense on 1st and 10 attacked Bo Nix inside his end zone. A holding call inside the end zone was called, and that automatically gave the Jets a two-point safety and the lead to make it 11-10 at the time at the 5:02 mark on the clock.
Penalties?
Even in this loss, the Jets only committed two penalties for fifteen yards, while the Broncos earned six. A better game on the discipline side of the ball for all three sides.
“Disappointing game, man. I thought I got us, fought their asses off. Obviously, it wasn’t good enough. It’s tough being close. At some point, we got to finish one of these here, and that’s been a, that’s been something we talked about, about how we finish. And we didn’t finish the way that we needed to, to go and get this win, give those guys a lot of credit.
Defensively, they were all over the place when it comes to their defense. But I thought our defense played well; that’s probably our best game. You know, our defense guys have a takeaway. I think we were on the better end of the penalties, which is positive, and on both ends. But offensively, I mean, they gave it to us and we all saw that.
I don’t know how many yards we averaged per rush, maybe three or some yards a carry. I know we ran the ball quite a bit. Our passing game was non-existent. You know, something that we got to get better at. Those guys did a really good job of pressing our quarterback, and they are a team that pressures quite a bit. So we knew that going in.
And it was tough, it was tough. So, there are a lot of good things from a defensive perspective, from a special teams perspective that we’re gonna build on, and we’re gonna go back to the drawing board and get some things cleaned up on our offensive side. You know, get ready to go to the next game. So we put ourselves in this hole, you know, we’re always six, and we claim that we’re gonna continue to work and get better because we have to do that, what we have to do,” said Aaron Glenn.
