The same problems continue to repeat for the Jets from Monday Night to Sunday Afternoon
East Rutherford, NJ- The New York Jets continue to make the same mistakes, over and over again. Just when you think they will get going with an opening drive touchdown, they sputter and earn a field goal, but after that, they completely fall apart, failing to learn what they did at practice during the week. Facing a banged-up Dallas Cowboys team, they allowed them to look like a Super Bowl contender by a final score of 37-22.
Field Goal again to open the game
For the third time in five games, the Jets start with a fantastic first possession to get down the field and threaten to score a touchdown, but when they couldn’t get into the endzone, they settled for a field goal. After that, for the fourth time in five games, they fall apart and can’t recover.
Every offensive drive sputters till it’s too late
Every single time the Jets attempt to make it a game, they can’t find the way to bring their confidence back, and they continue to play catch-up. They either stop themselves with poor plays or continue to create poor penalties at the wrong time. Then they finally score touchdowns late in the fourth quarter and can’t find a way to overtake their opponents.
Defense is beyond poor
No matter how you say it or describe it, the Jets’ defense continues to be a laughing stock in the NFL. Poor secondary, poor tackling, poor play calling. Everything is falling apart in front of the NFL world. Blown assignments continue to happen, and it’s just not good enough.
Failing at 4th & 1’s
Every time the Jets have a fourth-and-one play, it’s never a quarterback sneak or a tush push, except for today, as they finally got it early in the game. They continue to try either a gadget play or use the running back to plow through for the first down, and continue to fail. It makes no sense to simply have a quarterback sneak instead of outsmarting yourself at a crucial time in the game.
The Dallas offensive line had seconds
Before the game started, the Jets were underdogs in this game, until the news came that the entire offensive line for the Cowboys was injured, the backups were in, and they played like they were the starters, keeping Dak Prescott upright all game long until Braiden McGregor sacked him in the second half.
Fumbling continues to be a problem
Aaron Glenn wore a boxing glove to knock the ball out of his players’ hands during practice to get his team not fumbling the ball during the game. Breece Hall failed during the second quarter, as he had a strong game, rushing over 100 yards. When he was tackled down, Hall fell down and at the same time got the ball punched out of his hand for the fumble, and Dallas recovered.
Aaron Glenn has to do better at getting his players back on track
When you are sensing a negative feeling on the sidelines, it’s up to the head coach to motivate his players and do a better job to get back into the game. While he has done a solid job being a disciplinarian, he hasn’t done the job of motivating his team during the game, and there is a disconnect during the games.
“Highly disappointed, um, I thought we had a really good opportunity. Uh, we were going in to score, we got the fumble, and it seemed like things went downhill after that. And that’s something that we can’t let happen, um, and I look at myself when it comes to that because it seemed like the wind was let out of us in that situation. And I gotta figure out a way to get our guys going.
You know, when things like that happen, and this is a game where it’s an imperfect game that we try to make perfect, and we have to do a better job of trying to be better, you know, in situations like that. So, I have to look at myself, see what I have to do to get these guys going when the situation happens like that, because that’s football.
That’s football. And in this game, the mentally tough, uh, are the ones that survive. So, I got to do a better job getting all the guys mentally tough when uh situations happen like that,” said Aaron Glenn.
