NEW YORK, NY – The National Football League has transformed cancer awareness from a sideline conversation to a nationwide movement. Through its Crucial Catch initiative, the NFL and American Cancer Society have empowered 1.9 million individuals with critical cancer screening resources, marking a significant milestone in public health outreach.
A Decade and a Half of Impact
Since its launch in 2009, the Crucial Catch program has raised $35 million for the American Cancer Society. The initiative goes far beyond traditional awareness campaigns, providing tangible support to underserved communities through targeted screening programs.
Breaking Down Barriers
“Crucial Catch allows the NFL and American Cancer Society to provide education on cancer risks, patient navigation, and screening resources to fans worldwide,” said Anna Isaacson, the NFL’s senior vice president of social responsibility.
The program’s CHANGE grant initiative has supported over 840,000 cancer screenings in communities with the greatest need, demonstrating a commitment to addressing health disparities.
Strategic Partnerships
Novartis, a leading innovative medicines company, has committed $5 million over the next five seasons to expand screening efforts. This partnership underscores a collective commitment to proactive health decisions and early cancer detection.
