A banged-up Jets Team is getting ready to face a banged-up Buccaneers Team

Florham Park, NJ- The New York Jets are going through the motions to get ready to face Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a crucial Week 3 matchup in the 2025 season. While several key players on offense and defense will be out for the Jets, the Buccaneers’ offensive line has taken a major hit to its starting tackles and guard.

Buccaneers’ offensive line woes

It might be a bump in the road, but for the Jets to be successful in the run game and get to the quarterback. The Buccaneers are missing some big-time players on their offensive line, as Right Guard Cody Mauch suffered a season-ending knee injury on Monday night football. Also unable to play are Tackles Luke Goedeke on IR with a Foot issue and Tristan Wirfs, with a knee issue was limited in practice.

Getting turnovers is still a problem

For the last several seasons, the Jets have continued creating turnovers, but completing them has been a big issue. In week one against the Steelers, they did force the ball to get unlodged out of the hands of their opponents, but they couldn’t find a way to pounce on the ball and take over on offense. That is still a work in progress.

“It’s the ability to emphasize it as much as not just emphasize it. You have to put action behind it also, and that’s done on a daily basis when you watch our. Here’s one thing I do know: when it comes to takeaways, we all know, we all hear it, and we all say it, that they come in bunches. It’s just that we have to get that first one. And I do believe once we get that first one, they will come after that.

And our guys, they’re working their ass off to get them. The thing is usually. When you do that, you don’t get them. Sometimes you get frustrated, so we can’t get frustrated. We just got to continue doing the things that we’ve been doing to try to get them. And I know for a fact they’re coming,” said Aaron Glenn.

Tyrod Taylor is the Starting Quarterback

After reporting Justin Fields suffered a concussion and is on concussion protocol, Tyrod Taylor will be the starting quarterback. Nothing has changed as Taylor is also a running quarterback like Justin Fields, but has been through the ropes in the NFL as a veteran. This is the reason he is the backup in his current tenure of his career, to be ready whenever his number gets called and perform well.

Isn’t it ironic that these two quarterbacks, who were teammates in Cleveland, are now facing each other for two different teams? Mayfield, drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft, was behind Tyrod Taylor started against the Jets in Week 3 of the 2018 NFL Season on Thursday Night Football. After getting destroyed in the first half, the Browns put in Mayfield in the second half with a comeback win, 21-17.

Todd Bowles coached Aaron Glenn on the Jets

When Aaron Glenn was drafted and playing for the Jets, a certain coach during Bill Parcells’ tenure was on his staff. Todd Bowles was that man. Now both men will be facing each other for the very first time. This should be an interesting matchup and a battle of wits from the sidelines, but before the game, the conversation should be fun to see.

“Going back to 2000 and 2005 and how much of an impact he’s had on you throughout your career, I would acknowledge that he’s a really good friend first, and then back that up with how good of a coach he is. Very knowledgeable. I’ve had plenty of opportunities at the Combine and other places, sit with him and just talk football. And he’s one of the coaches who doesn’t hold anything back when it comes to information.

Obviously, he’s not going to give me what they do or anything like that, which I don’t ask, but just talking football in general, of being a head coach. But even before that, being a coordinator, you know, we had several conversations on how to go about that. And I’m very appreciative of who he is and what he’s done for me,” said Glenn
