After returning to the club in a trade that drafted him, J.T. Miller has the Captain’s C on his jersey.
New York, NY- New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that J.T. Miller has been named the 29th Captain in Franchise History

Miller as the new captain of the New York Rangers,” said Rangers president Chris Drury. “Since his arrival last season, J.T. immediately became a leader for our group and exemplifies how we want to conduct ourselves both on and off the ice. Congratulations to J.T. and his entire family on an incredibly meaningful achievement, and we’re confident he will continue to represent our organization with class, commitment, and integrity.”
J.T. Miller Returned to Broadway
The 32-year-old was brought back to the Rangers in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks, sending Filip Chytil as he split time last season, registering 70 points (22 goals, 48 assists) in 72 games. With the Rangers, he acquired 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in 32 games.
Rangers Drafted Miller
Miller was originally selected by the Rangers in the first round, 15th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In his five and a half seasons with the Rangers, he played 341 games (86 goals, 100 assists), 186 points, before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning during the trading deadline in the 2017-18 season.
Alternate Captains selected
The four Alternate Captains that were selected by the Rangers were Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Adam Fox, and Vincent Trocheck, who took over the A after Chris Kreider was traded to the Anaheim Ducks. These are the players who will represent the leadership group on the ice for the 100th Season of New York Rangers Hockey.
