Dublin, IRE- While Hungary dominated the first half of the match, an unprovoked Roland Salloi earned a Red Card and changed the game.

Two Goals inside the first 15 minutes
The Hungarians were on the front foot as soon as the referee blew the opening whistle. The ball was crossed on frame, Ireland’s Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher punched it away, picking up the rebound was Callum Styles inside the top of the area. He chipped the ball forward toward Barnabás Varga and scored in the second minute.

Hungary earned a corner at the near side. As the ball was delivered, it was bending toward the near side of the area. Out of nowhere came Roland Sallai with a deflection shot of his head to make it two nil in the 15th minute.
Ireland finally gets a shot on goal
Hungary dominated the entire first half. They prevented Ireland from getting any chances of reaching their net. Within the final few minutes of the first half, Ireland finally got a shot on goal, which didn’t trouble the keeper, but it did help Ireland.
Ireland pulls one back
Throughout the match, Hungary dominated the Irish, until one moment ended the domination. They earned a corner at the near side, bent it on frame. Dibusz made the save. Ireland still had control of the ball, as it pinballed around until Evan Ferguson scored in the 49th minute
Silly tackle puts Hungary down to ten men and costs them the win
Hungary still had a one goal lead, and they were safe until a silly challenge put them at a numerical disadvantage. Sallai saw the loose ball and started to chase. Dara O’Shea was about to get to it until Sallai took O’Shea down from behind and earned the red card in the 52nd minute.
Stoppage time point saver
Six minutes of second half stoppage time were displayed, and Ireland found a way to get that equalizer. In the third minute of six, Ryan Manning was at the far side of the pitch, crossed it in, and out of nowhere, Adam Idah got his head on the ball to beat Dibusz for the equalizer.
How the draw keeps Ireland alive
Portugal destroyed Armenia five goals to nil and is at the top of Group F, while the draw saves Ireland from a disastrous start to their World Cup Qualifying campaign. Hungary will curse itself for not keeping its tactical advantage.
Looking Ahead
The Republic of Ireland will travel to face Armenia, while Hungary will return home to face Portugal on Tuesday, September 9th.
