England Defeats Andorra in Comfortable Fashion at World Cup Qualifier

A solid performance by the three lions as they earned a victory to remain undefeated in group play

Birmingham, ENG- While Wembley Stadium wasn’t available due to an event scheduled for the same day, England’s National Team headed toward Villa Park in Birmingham to host Andorra for their home World Cup Qualifier. While the Andorrians gave a bit of a defensive fit to the home side at the end of the 90 minutes, England once again came up big for a win as they defeated their opponents by a final score of two goals to nil.

England Gets a Gift from Andorra

For the opening whistle, England were always on the front foot as Andorra played defense the entire match. While they forced England to take too many shots and disrupted them to be off target, they helped England get on the board.

Noni Madueke was on the far side and crossed the ball to the middle of the area looking for Harry Kane, but he was defended very well, and Andorra’s Christian Garcia jumped high to deflect the ball away. Sadly, he deflected it into his own net in the 25th minute.

Rice Ball For Declan

England earned their second goal of the match in the second half. As Reece James attacked down the near side. He sized up a big play as he crossed the ball toward the far post. Standing there and running into position was Declan Rice as he got his head on to the ball and scored inside the far post to cement the lead and the three points in the 67th minute.

It should’ve been more for England

While you can’t disagree with the result, as England did achieve the full three points, you felt as an England Supporter they should’ve had more in this matchup. While Andorra did play a strong defensive game, they were still no match for England, and they left a ton of chances begging to be converted. At least another two to three goals should’ve been in the back of the net, and sadly, they missed the target.

England’s next World Cup qualifier is on the road at Serbia, as their undefeated record is on the line. On Tuesday, September 9th, it should be a strong test for them moving forward.
