The New York Knicks looked dead and buried in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals after a horrendous first half in the game. When they came out of the locker room, they somehow flipped the switch and started making a comeback in the second half, finding a way to grab the victory after being in the jaws of defeat. Magical shots and a huge rebound within the final minutes gave them the one-point lead and secured a Game 4 victory as the Knicks won by a final score of 107-106.
In the victory over the San Antonio Spurs, down by 29 points, the Knicks made NBA Finals history for the biggest comeback victory in the league. After going off on a slow start to begin the game, somehow they found a way to start battling back and miraculously found an O.G. Anunoby fingerroll rebound shot to get the one-point victory and send the Garden Crowd into a frenzy and into celebration mode. Jalen Brunson led all scorers with 36 points, Anunoby was second with 33 points, and Karl Anthony Towns had another double-double, scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Victor Wembanyama led all Spurs with 24 points, Dylan Harper was the second Spurs scorer coming off the Bench with 21 points, and outscored the Knicks’ bench 21-12. Overall, the Spurs’ bench outscored the Knicks ‘ bench 28-12. The Knicks’ bench needs to be better in the next game.

First Half: The Spurs have a hot start and are rampaging
Once again, the Spurs are dominating from the start of the opening tip. Once again, the officials hit a Knicks player with two consecutive fouls as Towns was hit with a weak foul on the opening shot, and a foul on Wembanyama was overturned on replay and given to Towns as an offensive foul when Wembanyama hooked his hand on Towns. The Spurs dominated the first half with consistent three-pointers. Wembanyama is also using his escape from a retroactive flagrant by forcing Robinson to throw a forearm into his face, and got him to get one after a review.
The Spurs continued to frustrate the Knicks by forcing them to make fouls and put the majority of the team into foul trouble. Every time the Knicks tried to get something going, the Spurs made sure to shut it down with a big basket or a timeout being called by the coaching staff. The Spurs hit 14 three-pointers, making it a new NBA Finals record for most three-pointers in a single half. Right now, the Spurs are 28 for 47 on Field Goals Made, 14 for 26 behind the three-point line. The Knicks are 15 for 37 on Field Goals made and are 4 for 12 behind the three-point line.

“I applaud all of them because we had different guys step up at different times. You know, you take a guy like Jeremy Sohan. We… threw him in the game, and he gave us four to five great minutes. I don’t even know the last time Jeremy really even played longer than 30 seconds. It was just a heck of a job keeping himself ready. Aerial Harkaporty, you know. Ted picks up fouls. Mitch is gassed. We throw Earl out there. Those minutes were unbelievable. I challenged a lot of our guys today. You know. And OG was one of the guys I challenged. I told OG, as big, as strong, as athletic as he is, he’s got to be a monster on the offensive glass tonight.
I don’t know if there was a play. Bigger than any other play in the history of Knicks basketball. That was a huge offensive rebound. Huge offensive rebound. He took on the challenge. And he went and won the game for us, doing exactly what I called him out for. Don’t shoot around today. Kat. He picked up those early fouls, was on the bench most of the half, and he had a whale. A whale of a fourth quarter, a whale of a second half for us. He was unbelievable. Jalen. He’s the MVP candidate. I say the same thing about Jalen every game. He does what an MVP is supposed to do. And he did it again tonight. The last person I’m going to talk about is Jose Alvarado.
Jose was unbelievable tonight. He changed the game. His speed, his ability to touch the paint. Again, you give San Antonio a lot of credit. They’re trying to throw a lot of different things at us defensively, kind of a matchup man. Slash his own, and if you don’t close out the Jose as hard as he works on his shot, he’s gonna make you pay if you close out to him. He’s quick enough to go by you. And he made some great basketball plays offensively tonight. And then he was great defensively.
But you talk about a total team effort when we hit adversity. And that’s all we’ve talked about all year— hitting adversity, hitting adversity, hitting adversity. I embrace it throughout the year. We have to hit it because we have to see if we’re connected enough for moments like this. And our guys showed their resiliency. And show they’re connected enough. To handle a moment like that. The series isn’t over. It’s going to be tough down in San Antonio. But I applaud all my guys and all my coaches. Trying to find a way and finding a way to get in the win tonight,” said Mike brown
Second Half: Knicks starting to fight back, and a miracle at the end
Once the Knicks came out of their locker room, they came to the court and started to fight back against the Spurs. For the entire second half, they made several runs to cut the deficit from 29 points all the way to taking a one-point lead. After Towns got fouled by Wembanyama by taking an elbow to his chin, a review from the referees gave Wemby a Flagrant One, which officially gave him three flagrant points. It started a 7-0 run that late became a 13-0 run, several scoring shots from Anunoby and Brunson, who got a basket and the foul. Then an alley oop when Brunson flipped it to Robinson for the jam.
The fourth quarter saw the Knicks continue their march to take the lead. Towns just beats the shot clock to drain a three. Then Jose Alvarado was kept on the court for the entire fourth quarter and made several shots to help the starters. Poor shooting and careless passes by the Spurs allowed the Knicks to make this run to grab the lead and win the game. When there was 7.6 left on the clock in the fourth quarter, Brunson took a shot that was just short, hitting the front of the rim, then out of nowhere, Anunoby with a fingerroll rebound to give the Knicks the one-point lead with 1.2 left. When the Spurs inbounded the ball, they couldn’t get the shot off due to great defense by Hart, and the Knicks held on to win the game.
