On March 14th, at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio, the Crew hosted Nashville SC in the 2026 MLS Regular Season. In a scoreless match that went into second-half stoppage time, Hany Mukhtar converted the game-winning goal in the third minute of six that was posted by the fourth official. That goal officially became the 25,000 regular-season goal in the history of the league.
Mukhtar’s historic tally
Andy Najar had the ball in the midfield, attacking the Crew’s side of the pitch. Passed the ball to Cristian Espinoza along the near side. Espinoza received the ball and attacked inside the area, danced a bit back and forth, then went toward the near post. Made a quick cross toward Mukhtar, who trailed the play and converted the shot past Patrick Schulte for the win and the historic goal.
Since Eric Wynalda scored the first goal in the history of Major League Soccer back at Spartan Stadium on April 6th, 1996, we are now at 25,000 goals and more. Mukhtar is a former Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player Award Winner in 2022.
