The first team assistant now takes over the second team
Harrison, NJ- Red Bull New York has just given their senior side assistant coach, Dominik Wohlert, the head coaching job of their second team at the MLS Next Pro level. He has taken over since Michael Bradley was promoted to the senior side this past December 2025.
Wohlert’s Red Bull Tenure
Dominik Wohlert has spent the past four years with the club, starting back in 2022 under Gerhart Struber as an assistant coach of analysis and during Troy Lesense in his interim season of 2023. He was also a part of Sandro Schwarz’s staff for the past two seasons, including the trip to the 2024 MLS Cup Final against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
“Dominik has been an incredible asset as an assistant coach of our first team over the last four seasons.” Says Head of Sport Julian de Guzman, “he possesses the qualities we look for in a Head Coach and we are excited to have him contribute to the development of Red Bull New York II.”
Wohlert’s past jobs
Before coming to the Red Bulls, Wohlert was at German Bundesliga side Hertha BSC as a scouting intern before he was promoted to Head of Match Analysis. He served that role from July 2013 till July 2021, then was promoted to assistant coach of the club from July 2021 till December o 2021.
“I’m truly honored and thankful for this opportunity to become Head Coach for Red Bull New York II.” Says Wohlert, “we as a club have a strong identity and a proven pathway for young talents and I’m excited to build on that with energy, structure, and ambition.”
This is Wohlert’s first head coaching position.
