SPARKS, MD — Army West Point senior Brigid Duffy has been named to the U.S. Women’s National Field Lacrosse Team, USA Lacrosse announced Thursday, Jan. 15. Duffy becomes the first Black Knight in program history to earn a spot on the national field team, a milestone that cements her legacy as one of Army’s all-time greats.
Duffy, a Queensbury, N.Y. native, will represent the United States this summer at the Nissin Foods 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, set for July 24–August 2 in Tokyo, Japan. She joins a powerhouse U.S. squad that has claimed nine world titles and is seeking its fifth consecutive gold medal.
The final 22-player roster, selected by head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein (Boston College), features a blend of established stars and rising collegiate talent. Duffy is one of just nine current NCAA players on the team and the only representative from the Patriot League. She is joined by fellow young standouts like reigning Tewaaraton winner Chloe Humphrey (North Carolina) and Boston College’s Shea Baker and Shea Dolce. This year’s roster is the most collegiate-heavy in U.S. team history, reflecting the program’s depth and the growth of the women’s game.

Duffy’s selection follows a rigorous two-year evaluation process, with Walker-Weinstein and her staff narrowing a pool of 58 players through national camps and competitions. Six players return from the 2022 gold medal team, including Sam Apuzzo and Charlotte North, while veteran Marie McCool aims for her third world title.
For Duffy, this marks her second time representing Team USA after winning gold with the U20 squad in 2024, alongside Army teammate Allison Reilly and under Noto Family Head Coach Michelle Tumolo. Duffy’s junior season at Army saw her earn USA Lacrosse First Team All-American honors, First Team All-Patriot League, and a Top 25 finalist nod for the Tewaaraton Award. She is also a soccer star, leading the nation in game-winning goals last fall and powering Army to a Patriot League Tournament title and Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Army women’s lacrosse, with Duffy at the helm, will look to return to the NCAA tournament for a second straight season when the Black Knights open their 2026 campaign at Rutgers on Feb. 6.
