WORCESTER, MA — On a night that saw Army West Point men’s basketball fall to Holy Cross, 82–75, junior guard Ryan Curry etched his name into Black Knights history by surpassing the 1,000-point milestone. The achievement, which makes Curry the 38th player in program history to reach the mark, was a bright spot in a hard-fought Patriot League road contest on Wednesday at the Hart Center.
Army (7–11, 1–4 Patriot) entered the night riding a four-game winning streak in Worcester, but Holy Cross (8–10, 3–2) snapped that run with a barrage of three-pointers and timely buckets down the stretch.
The question looming for Black Knights fans is when will the tide turn for the men’s program, as the women’s team under first-year head coach Katie Kuester is flying high this season with a 13-3 (4-1 conference record).
Historic Night for Curry
Curry, who finished with 14 points and three triples, reached the 1,000-point plateau in the second half, joining an exclusive club of Army greats. He now stands alongside recent honoree Jalen Rucker, who accomplished the feat in 2023.
Bench Sparks and Second-Half Surge
A dynamic bench performance powered the Black Knights’ offense. Jaxson Bell led all Army scorers with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting, adding eight rebounds and three assists in his second career 20-point game. Jackson Furman provided 18 points, four assists, and a career-high three steals, while Tate Laczkowski dominated the boards with a career-best 13 rebounds—second only to Curry’s 14 earlier this season.
After trailing 52–39 at halftime, Army opened the second half with renewed defensive intensity. Laczkowski and Jacen Holloway cleaned up the glass, and Bell’s energy off the bench helped trim the deficit. The Black Knights clawed back within three late in the half, fueled by Curry’s milestone bucket and a timely three from Bell. Army’s defense forced turnovers and created extra opportunities, but Holy Cross responded with clutch shooting to keep the lead out of reach.
