Army Men’s Basketball: High-Octane Shootout at Boston U. Sets Stage for Crucial Road Test at Holy Cross

BOSTON, MA — Army West Point men’s basketball (7-10, 1-3 Patriot) remains mired in a three-game funk after a high-scoring 100-91 defeat at Boston University (7-10, 2-2 Patriot) inside Case Gym. Despite a season-best regulation scoring output against a Division I opponent, the Black Knights couldn’t keep pace with the Terriers’ red-hot 66.7% shooting, setting up a make-or-break road trip to Worcester, MA, to face a Holy Cross squad that’s been a thorn in West Point’s side across multiple sports this year.

Curry’s Climb and Bench Brilliance

Senior guard Ryan Curry once again led the charge, tallying 24 points (8-16 FG, 4-8 3PT, 4-4 FT), eight assists, and two rebounds. He now sits just 13 points shy of joining Army’s prestigious 1,000-point club—a feat achieved by only 37 players before him. Jackson Furman came off the bench firing, matching his career-high with 20 points (6-10 FG, 6-6 FT), four boards, two assists, and two steals. Jorn Everson and Jaxson Bell each added 13 points, with Bell hitting three treys and Alex Engro providing a spark with a career-best six points.

First Half: Fast Start, Terrier Run

Army opened with energy, trading buckets and building a 10–7 lead on a Curry three. Bench contributions from Furman and Bell kept the Black Knights close, but Boston U. closed the half on an 18–6 run, capitalizing on perimeter shooting and transition baskets to take a 51–39 lead into halftime.

Second Half: Relentless but Outpaced

The Black Knights returned with urgency, cutting into the deficit behind Jacen Holloway and Tate Laczkowski. Despite second-chance points and aggressive play, Army struggled to contain Boston’s three-point barrage. Bell’s consecutive threes and Furman’s drives kept Army within striking distance, but a Terrier answer met each surge. Army notched a season-high 45 bench points and outscored Boston in several late stretches, but ultimately couldn’t overcome the deficit as Boston closed strong from the line.
