Army West Point junior Brent Keefer earned Atlantic Hockey America “Forward of the Week,” the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. It’s the first time that Keefer has earned the award in his collegiate career.
This marks the third consecutive week that Army has walked away with weekly conference honors, with sophomore Jack Ivey (Dec. 1-7) and junior Barron Woodring (Nov. 24-30) winning the award.
Keefer earned conference honors following a four-point week against LIU and Northeastern.

Against the Sharks, Keefer registered three points, scoring twice and collecting an assist on Nik Hong’s power play goal. The Black Knights would end up losing in a shootout to LIU, but Keefer was one of, if not the best, players in Brooklyn on December 28th.
Five days later, following the turn of the calendar to 2026, Army hosted the Northeastern Huskies on January 2nd. Making the trip from Boston, Massachusetts, the Huskies were looking for some revenge after losing 2-1 to Army back on October 10th at Matthews Arena.
Army wasn’t going to let that happen, this time at Tate Rink. The Huskies got off to a fast start, taking a 2-0 lead, but it was all Army the rest of the game. The Black Knights would go on to upset #12-ranked Northeastern for the second time this season, 5-2.

It wasn’t the flashiest game for Keefer, who had just one shot on net the entire game. However, that one shot was crucial in sealing the victory. Keefer beat what looked like was going to be an icing and powered his way towards the empty net and escorted the puck over the line to put the game to bed for the Black Knights.
Following another ranked victory at home, here’s what Brent Keefer had to say.
“It feels good getting a huge win with the fans here. When Northeastern went up 2-0, honestly, no one doubted we’d win. We were outshooting them and just needed to capitalize. JJ’s shot-blocking and our defense have been key. We know when we play to our strengths, we can play with anybody.”
With the Black Knights on a high to start the new year, Army is set to travel to Erie, Pennsylvania, to take on Mercyhurst University. The Lakers currently sit in last place in Atlantic Hockey America with an overall record of 0-17-1 and an AHA record of 0-9-1 (1 Point).
This is a huge opportunity for head coach Zach McKelvie and Army to take six points this weekend and catapult themselves back into the playoff conversation. Puck drop at Mercyhurst Ice Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET Friday night and 5 p.m on Saturday.
