Whippany, NJ- Per sources, the New York Red Bulls are having discussions with San Diego FC about trading midfielder Lewis Morgan for a 2026 MLS Super Draft Pick and General Allocation Money (GAM). Morgan’s time with the Red Bulls has been as an attacking midfielder, traded from Inter Miami in 2022.
Morgan’s Red Bulls Career
Spent four seasons with the club, playing 69 matches and starting in 62 of them for a total of 5,532 minutes. He scored 27 goals and 11 assists. He has two career Hat Tricks with the Red Bulls away at Toronto on March 5th, 2022, and at home against the Lionel Messi-Less Inter Miami on March 23rd, 2024.
Morgan earned the MLS Comeback Player Award during the 2024 season after missing the entire 2023 season with a season-ending injury, but missed the entire 2025 season due to an injury. When healthy, he is a threat on the attack, either running with or without the ball, or up close to take a brilliant shot.
If this rumor does become true, we want to wish Lewis all the best in San Diego. We will continue to put all eyes on Julian DeGuzman to see how the roster shapes out before the start of the season.
