The Jets’ Defense was tormented in their first three attempted stops
East Rutherford, NJ- The New York Jets found themselves behind the ight ball early and often as they were taken to the woodshed by the Miami Dolphins. They were outschemed by the offense, and the Miami defense just continued to pound the Jets into submission. After all four quarters were done, the Jets earned their 10th loss of the season as they fell to the Dolphins by the final score of 34-10.
Three straight touchdowns
The Dolphins won the toss and elected to take the ball in the first half. They ran down the field with ease, getting into the endzone and taking a three-touchdown lead in their first three possessions. A four play, 69 yard Jaylen Waddle Touchdown, then a five play 80 yard De’Von Achane touchdown. Then, after an interception, a six-play, 29 yard Jaylen Wright rushing touchdown. The Jets’ defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed.
Special Teams does it again
The Jets’ Special Teams have been amazing this season. Not just on punts by Austin McNamara, punt coverage by Quantez Stiggers, Nick Folk nearly perfect for field goals, but the kickoff return and punt return teams are doing amazing jobs. Isaiah Williams, who made horrible mistakes against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, redeemed himself with a 78 yard punt return touchdown that finally got the Jets on the board.

Quarterback Change
Tyrod Taylor started the game in the first three possessions until he left with an inflamed Labia. That meant undrafted rookie QB Brady Cook got his chance to show what he’s got. While looking like a rookie, he did make some decent throws, but some of them were dropped, and he made two critical interceptions when the Jets needed to get into the endzone on offense.
Cook finished the game, completed 14 out of 30 attempts for 163 yards with two interceptions, and was sacked six times, losing 27 yards. Earned a quarterback rating of 35.8. We need to see what will happen during practice this week for the next road game at Jacksonville, but if it looks like Cook will be the starter, or if the Jets go back to Justin Fields, it will be an interesting choice for Aaron Glenn.

Defense did improve, but not enough
After that horrible first quarter, the Jets found a way to make adjustments and improve their defense, even though the damage had already been done. Their offense wasn’t moving the ball that much, and they were in a bend but don’t break. Tua was sacked once, shared with Quincy Williams and Michael Clemons.
Defense felt like a mash unit
Several players went out with injuries, especially the secondary, but when you saw AZ Thomas & Stiggers return to play defense, there was a sigh of relief. But the Jets were exposed, and the Dolphins had a game plan to take advantage of their weaknesses. It wasn’t a good day all around, and this team needs a lot of help for next season.
“This game was definitely disappointing. Really hard to try to put this into words. The only thing that I can say, I didn’t have these guys ready to play. And that was obvious, by the way, that we went out there and played. So I have to take a look at myself, take a look at the staff, take a look at the players, and come back next week and get ourselves ready to play against a good team that’s playing well right now.
Again, this was a tough one. We have to eat it, we have to move on, and we have to try to improve next week. That’s the only thing that we can do. And that’s what we’ve been doing. No finger-pointing this one. Again, this is on me. And I got to get our guys better going into next week,” said Head Coach Aaron Glenn.
