Blue Wave Wedding as Curacao Takes Down Bermuda away.

North Shore Village, Bermuda- A very important Group B World Cup Qualifier for Curacao, as they needed to earn the full three points and put pressure on Jamaica for the top spot. Dick Advocaat got his side ready to battle, and they put a stamp on their opponents as Curacao scored seven goals in a clean sheet victory.

VAR helped with the penalty

Curacao began attacking with the ball at the near side, then Dante Leverock blocked the shot, as play continued. But referee Tori Penso blew her whistle and made the VAR signal. On review, Leverock stuck his left elbow out and handled the ball inside the area. Pointing to the spot, Penso and Curaçao converted their penalty by Leandro Bacuna in the sixth minute.

Got a gift for the second

Bermuda was controlling the ball in their end of the pitch. But a poor mistake by Lejuan Simmons gave Curacao a free shot, as he mistakenly gave the ball away to Juninho Bacuna at the near side. Ran toward the middle and bent a beautiful ball inside the upper far 90 in the 32nd minute.

Another penalty, another goal

Curacao was attacking with the ball toward the Bermudan net, but as the play entered the area, Bermuda’s goalkeeper, Dale Eve, came off his line and fouled his man inside the area. Referee Penso blew her whistle and pointed to the spot again. Jordi Paulina converted his penalty in the 48th minute.

It’s four for Curacao

The Blue Wave continued its relentless attack on Bermuda. The ball was going down the near side by Junino Bacuna. He crossed it toward the top of the area, and Sontje Hansen smashed it in from distance, splashing it into the near post in the 59th minute.

Paulina at the double

The domination continued when Hansen attacked down the near side. He passed it back toward Livano Comenencia at the top of the area. He took the shot, but the ball was stopped. Sadly, he left a juicy rebound for Paulina for his second of the match in the 63rd minute.

Two more late goals to finish the job

Curacao got two more goals in the back end of the second half as Arjany Martha in the 82nd minute, then in second half stoppage time, Roshon Van Eijma finished the night off with a blast as the Blue Wave scored lucky number seven to put their opponents away.

Curacao back at the top

With this victory and Jamaica dropping two points away at Hasley Crawford Stadium in Trinidad & Tobago, Curacao is back at the top of Group B, while Jamaica is back in second place. The final match of Group B will be Jamaica hosting Curacao at the office in Kingston. This will be a huge match for both sides. One will go to the World Cup while the other will go to the Intercontinental Playoffs. The final match is this Tuesday.
