The French Island goes away to Nicaragua and dominates
Managua, Nicaragua- The October International Window begins at the Estadio Nacional as Nicaragua hosts Haiti for a crucial World Cup Qualifier. While there was a stoppage for a power outage, they were able to restart it, and sadly, the home side was defeated as the Haitians secured the full three points and shot up to the top of the table as the final score was three goals to nil.
Duckens Nazon took advantage
Haiti had a strong start to the match, and they quickly put pressure on the Nicaraguan backline. Carlens Arcus threw the ball back in from the near side touchline. Josue Casimir quickly got to the ball and attacked toward the end line. His cross was deflected up in the air by Miguel Rodriguez, and running behind him was Duckens Nazon as he punched it home in the 12th minute.
Who turned down the lights?
The rain came to the Estadio Nacional with authority. It looked like a deluge in Managua, and unfortunately, all that rain caused a power outage in the 29th minute. Haiti had the ball in their end of the pitch, as they were bringing the ball up, when the lights went out. It lasted 40 minutes before the match was able to restart.
Haiti makes it two from the corner
Hait earned a corner, as it was taken by Jean-Ricner Bellegarde along the far side. He delivered a fantastic ball to the area, and rushing up to deliver a jumping snap header was the Philadelphia Union’s Midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, giving his island nation a two goal lead in the 35th minute.
Stoppage time frenzy
Five minutes of second half stoppage time were posted by the fourth official. In the second minute of five, that’s when Haiti finished them off. Derrick Etienne Jr laid the ball off for Markhus Lacroix, took a quick run, crossed it to the far side, and coming in was the FC Dallas man Louicious Deedson with an easy tap in at the far post.
Top of Group C
With the other Group C match ending in a scoreless draw, Haiti’s three-goal clean sheet victory has put them at the top with five points and a goal differential advantage of +3, while Honduras is in second with five points and a +2. Costa Rica is in third place with three draws for three points, and Nicaragua is at the bottom with one point.
