The Jets are trying for their first win of the season against the Dallas Cowboys
Florham Park, NJ- The Jets flipped the calendar from September to October as they return home to face the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. They hope to earn their first win of the 2025 season and give Head Coach Aaron Glenn their first win of the regular season. While both teams have defensive issues, the major questions will be discipline and avoiding penalties.
Aaron Glenn is practicing Ball Handling
During the week of practice, Aaron Glenn wore a boxing glove on his right hand. He was practicing with his players on handling the ball, so they wouldn’t lose it in the games. Every time a Jets player went through a drill, Glenn would be right in front of them, attempting to punch the ball out of their hands to create a fumble. The players’ jobs were not allowing Glenn to create a turnover.
“Yeah, it was more the emphasis, and I’ve always been big on this, and you could emphasize things with words all you want, but you have to put action behind the emphasis, and that’s on listening. We can’t turn the ball over. I mean, we know it loses games,” said Glenn
Justin Fields needs to make plays
Watching on Monday Night Football, how the Jets’ offense has been stagnated by not creating dynamic plays till their backs are up against the wall. While Justin Fields 43 yard rushing touchdown to get it to a one score game was brilliant in the third quarter, in between that and their opening drive showed some of the frailties they are having. There needs to be more consistency in their game all around.
Braelon Allen’s knee injury
After suffering a left knee injury during a kickoff return, Braelon Allen could miss either a small amount of time or a large amount of time when he was taken out by the kickoff return defense by the Dolphins. Depending on which type of procedure he wants to take care of his left knee.
“He can actually rehab this; it’ll be the same time frame, or he can have surgery and get it cleaned up. But the rehab time will be the same. So, that’ll be a decision that he and his agent would have to make, and I’m not making that decision for him.
It can be eight to twelve weeks, it seems like that, so. So, again, we know it’s gonna be a significant amount of time. But, again, man, that’d be his decision on how he wants to go about that, and I know he’ll make the right decision for himself. I’m gonna talk to the trainers and see how that goes.”said Glenn
The Cowboys’ defense has been an issue
The Dallas Cowboys’ season is not off to a good start. They have won once, with two losses, and tied with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. While Dak Prescott and the offense have continued to score points, their defense has been horrendous, giving up points as well. Many people believe this will be a shootout unless the Jets find that explosiveness they had from Week 1 against the Steelers.
The return of Brian Schottenheimer
The Jets’ former offensive coordinator during the Rex Ryan era will make his return to MetLife Stadium as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. His offensive play calls put the Jets into two winning seasons by making the playoffs and two consecutive AFC Championship games. This will be his first time as a head coach of the Cowboys facing his old team.
“I look forward to the challenge of playing this team. I look forward to the challenge of playing this quarterback. I know Shoddy very well, and he’s gonna have His team ready. I know that, but we’ll be ready to, so again, looking forward to that,” said Glenn
Sauce Gardner’s comments after the loss in Miami
After the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, Sauce Gardner shared his thoughts on the game, especially with his frustration over the officials throwing the flag on him for several penalties. While he has every right to feel like this, his job is to improve and get better. Not complain about these issues.
“I’m personally frustrated,” Gardner said. “I feel like me personally, us not winning, I watch football all the time and I just feel like — I don’t know if this is wrong to say — but I think I get called for more stuff just based off of us just not winning.
“I watch these winning programs and there’s some egregious things and it don’t get called, letting the players play.”
