The Battle of the 0-3 Teams as the Jets head down to Miami for Monday Night Football

A very important game to see who will avoid the basement of the AFC East.

Florham Park, NJ- The New York Jets return to the state of Florida, facing their AFC East Division rivals as they take on the Miami Dolphins, to see who will avoid the basement of the Division and earn an 0-4 record. The Jets made several moves to prepare for their big game as they face Tua Tagovailoa, as he knows the pressure from the fans is all over the team.

Justin Fields is still in Concussion Protocol

Fields participated fully in practice on Thursday in non-contact drills. Looked good, but hasn’t been cleared to return. Once the doctors take a look at him and give their o.k., Fields should be the starter for Monday Night Football.

Miami’s offense is explosive

Without a doubt, the Dolphins still have explosive players like Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek Hill, De’Von Achine, Alec Ingold, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, who make a dangerous offense regardless of their record.

“All right, when it comes to Miami, listen, this opponent is, I’ll say, when you look at them. offensively very, very explosive speed. A ton of space players. Now, the quarterback, as I can remember, I think two years ago, I think he led the league in passing. And you have a running back that can get it and go at any given time. I’ve always said the same thing about these receivers.

So we have to be on top of our game when it comes to how those guys operate on offense. When it comes to their defense, they have a couple of players; they’re very prideful players. Chubb, Siler, you know those guys are going to fight to the end. So we’re in a dogfight, gentlemen and women, and we have to make sure that the mindset is right, which the mindset will be,” said Aaron Glenn.

Jarvis Brownlee’s acquisition

The Jets made the trade to bring over Jarvis Brownlee from the Titans to shore up the corner position in the secondary. This was an important move to make as they continue to get beaten on the outside.

“I think I’m going to fit in great,” the second-year cornerback told reporters Thursday. “I think we all want the same thing, and that’s to win. And just to get better every day. One percent better. I’m a hard worker,” Brownlee said. “I’ve got a lot of grit, I play hard, physical. I’m a great player around the locker room. I think I’m a genuine guy, and I think I care a lot about others. I think I’m a guy that brings energy.”

Defense needs to be better

For the last three games, the Jets have allowed over or just under 30 points a game. A combined 93 points in total. For defensive coordinator Steve Wilkes, these are the problems that have prevented the Jets from having at least one to two wins this season.

“One of the things that we have to do defensively, as you’ve we’ve done a lot of great things throughout these first three weeks. But we gotta find a way to finish. That’s the key thing for us on defense. One touchdown, three holding those guys to five field goals. That doesn’t really mean anything when you can’t finish in the end. And that’s where we are right now. And that’s our challenge this week,” said Wilks.

Can the offense be better

Outside of the Buffalo Bills game and the first three quarters in Tampa, the Jets’ offense has done well moving the ball down the field. While they have scored seven touchdowns and five to six field goals, they need to continue to find ways to score points on the Dolphins defense, whose been having issues themselves.

“We’re gonna need to have a couple more good days of practice as we go against a solid, stingy defense. Got some good players over there up front and some solid vets on the back end that make it. But our guys, as always, are gonna be up for that. So we’re looking forward to the game on Monday night,” said Tanner Engstrand

The Jets are well aware of what’s in front of them. They must play better in all facets of the game and finish within the final possession of the game, or defend it. A single magical moment or a complete game can propel them to a win and avoid the basement of the division. Easier said than getting it done, but that’s why they play the game.
