San Jose, CRC- An exciting three-goal draw gives both teams a point, and two points after two matches
Early goal for the home side
The first goal came right away as Manfred Ugalde made a run from the midfield, sent a quick pass to Kerwin Vargas attacking the area. He shot the ball inside the far post, and within the 56-second mark of the opening minute, Costa Rica took the lead.
Alonso Martinez makes it two
Costa Rica took the ball at midfield and made an attacking run. Vargas received the ball inside the center circle, made a couple of steps forward. Then chipped the defender as a pass toward Alonso Martinez, and powered the shot past the keeper in the 35th minute.
Duckens Nazon enters and delivers a Hat Trick
Haiti head coach Sebastien Migne knew he had to make a change, just to change the fortunes of the National Team for the second half. He subbed in Duckens Nazon for Carl Sainte in the 40th minute, then the game turned around in the second half.
The first goal was off the save from the penalty spot, but the rebound was scored in the 55th minute. Nazon’s second goal was from the near corner, with Danley Jean Jacques heading it to the middle of the area, Nazon bicycle kicks it in in the 58th minute.
The hat trick finally came when Louicius Deedson brought the ball up, made a nice pass to the near side toward Markhus Lacroix. He attacked the area, made a strong pass to Nazon, and he scored inside the far post in the 86th minute for the lead.
Costa Rica steals a point in stoppage time
The corner was taken at the far side. Juan Vargus received the ball and crossed it toward the goal when Manfred Ugalde stuck his left boot out and converted the late equalizer inside the first minute of seven in second half stoppage time.
Looking Ahead
These two teams will continue their World Cup Qualifying campaign in the October International Window, as Costa Rica will travel to face Honduras, while Haiti will travel to Nicaragua on Friday, the 9th.
