Scored in the first four series
The Jets, for the first time in a long time, scored in four consecutive series from the start of the first quarter. Two touchdowns and two field goals from Nick Folk put the Jets ahead at halftime, 19-17, with a 33-yard touchdown catch.
Breece Hall had a spectacular day
From the opening drive, Breece Hall was running roughshod all over the front seven of the Steelers’ defense. Earned 100 yards plus rushing from 19 carries. His longest was for 18 yards. It looks like his rookie form has finally returned before his injury.
Justin Fields’ Strong Start
While it was disappointing not to see Justin Fields put the Jets into field goal range in the final minute of the game, he had a strong performance, throwing a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson and running into the endzone twice for three touchdowns today. Completed 16 out of 22 for 218 yards.
Four sacks against Aaron Rodgers
The Jets earned four sacks in this game. First snap by the Steelers, Quinnen Williams got his first of the season. Will McDonald earned two sacks, and Quincy Williams ended the day with his own sack in the game.
Costly moments led to the loss
Two big moments happened that gave the Steelers the victory. A bad 15-yard late hit out of bounds by Quincy Williams before the end of the third quarter. After the touchdown to make it 26-24 Jets, Xavier Gipson got stripped on the kickoff return, and right away scored a quick touchdown inside the first minute of the fourth quarter.
“Exciting game, but I’m not into moral victories. This was a game that was back and forth, and a lot of fighting. I thought our offense was doing a lot of good things that we can build on, but the one thing that turned this game, we can’t have turnovers. We have to be a more disciplined team.
There are some penalties that happened in that game that were true disciplinary issues, and they have to be addressed. We will have that addressed,” said Aaron Glenn
Defense needs to be better on passing plays
When the Jets tried to make stops on third down or less, Aaron Rodgers was able to find his receivers for touchdowns. Also got into the field position game as Cris Boswell hit a game-winning 60-yard Field Goal late in the fourth quarter. They couldn’t make the important stops at the right time.
Final analysis
While there are strong signs that the Jets are looking improved, there are still lingering issues they must address for the next game to fix it. Tackling needs to be better, and late hits out of bounds can’t happen again.

The Jets will host the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL Season on Sunday, September 14th at 1 PM Eastern on CBS Channel 2.
