After so many weeks of training camp where the Jets are tackling themselves, they finally got to tackle an opposition as they traveled to Green Bay, Wisconsin, to face the Packers at Historic Lambeau Field. They took care of business to give head coach Aaron Glenn his first preseason victory as the Jets defeated the Packers by a final score of 30-10.
The Jets scored on their opening drive after stopping the Packers to begin the game. Began on their 21yard line and moved the ball so well. Justin Fields made completions to Andre Beck twice for 36 yards; his longest on the night went for 24 yards. When they were at the Packers 13 yard line, Fields avoided a sack and ran it into the endzone himself for the Touchdown.
“I think it was important for us to get out on the field,” Fields said. “Practice isn’t the same as a game, so it was nice getting out there and the stadium feel. Great atmosphere always in Lambeau, but it was awesome for sure.” Said Justin Fields.

For the quarter and a half, Justin Fields used his weapons very well, giving both Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis multiple touches to run down the field and eat up necessary yards. He ended his night early with three completions out of four attempts for 42 yards, but the most important thing was that he was poised in the pocket when he made the throws, and when he needed to use his legs, he earned positive yardage.
The defense played solidly as well, as they found multiple ways to make plays and sack the quarterbacks multiple times. Either Jordan Love or Malik Willis was sacked a combined four times, one and a half of those sacks were by Jay Tufele. Not only was Tufele ready to play tonight, he was looking to grab a roster spot for this regular season.
There was also a strip sack inside the Packers’ endzone in the second quarter when Leonard Taylor III knocked the ball out of Willis’ hand, and Tufele was aware of the loose ball, fell on it, and held on to get the touchdown for the defense, and had a strong game in the first half. Tufele made Aaron Glenn happy for how he performed tonight.

The final touchdown on the night was Adrian Martinez behind center moved the ball down the field. As he got the Jets to the Packers 24 yard line, A quick pass to Tight End Stone Smart to the far side and ran it to the end zone. Got some solid blocking from his offensive line to make the score 24-3. All game long, the Jets showed strong play at the line of scrimmage, making strong tackles and knocking the ball down.
The one negative the Jets have been plagued by in this game is undisciplined penalties. Three different moments when the Jets were careless and lost their cool on the field. Michael Clemons was involved in a shoving match with a Packers player, and both got flags for unsportsmanlike conduct. Then back to back unnecessary roughness penalties for late hits by Eric Watts and Marcelino McCrary Ball got Glenn upset and yelled at McCrary Ball returning to the sideline.
“Preseason or not, a win is a win, and I was always taught if you want to be a winner, not only if you want to understand how to win, you have to understand how to consistently win. This is a great win for our guys, a lot of good things happened in this game, but there were a lot of things we got to clean up, and we will clean those things up, for next week,” said Aaron Glenn. “I thought that was our brand of football for the most part, so again, like I said, I can’t wait to go into next week, and our guys will be ready for the challenge. The only thing that wasn’t our brand of football was the amount of penalties that we had, a number of undisciplined penalties, so we have to clean that up. I have to address that between me and them.”
The Jets will head back to MetLife Stadium next week as they will be the road team taking on the New York Giants in the annual preseason Snoopy Bowl.
