15-year executive receives contract extension as team commits to continuity with head coach Mike Macdonald
RENTON, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks have signed President of Football Operations/General Manager John Schneider to a contract extension through the 2031 season, ensuring organizational continuity as the franchise enters a new era under head coach Mike Macdonald.
Schneider, who was originally hired on January 19, 2010, will enter his 16th season with the organization in 2025 and now has his future secured through at least seven additional campaigns.

Seahawks chair Jody Allen emphasized Schneider’s consistent performance and collaborative approach in announcing the extension.

Under Schneider’s leadership, the Seahawks have compiled the sixth-best record in the NFL since 2010 with a 147-96-1 mark, ranking among just seven teams to win at least 140 games over that span. The franchise achieved unprecedented success during his tenure, including the organization’s first Super Bowl championship in 2013.
The Schneider era has been marked by sustained excellence, with the team posting 10-plus wins in five consecutive seasons (2012-16) for the first time in franchise history. Overall, the Seahawks have achieved nine winning seasons in the last 13 years under his guidance while capturing five NFC West Division titles.

Schneider’s roster construction has produced exceptional individual achievements, with his teams featuring 15 first-team AP All-Pro selections since 2012.
