HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.— July 28, 2025—The world’s top longboarders made history in small but tricky surf at the Lexus US Open of Surfing presented by Pacifico, with Finals Day set and the last Quarterfinals slots decided on standout performances and key upsets.
Four-time world champ Taylor Jensen (USA) led the charge, dropping the highest event total so far with a 15.90 and smooth nose riding that sent him to his fourth-straight US Open Quarterfinal. On the women’s side, reigning champion Rachael Tilly (USA) looked every bit the repeat threat, building on steady scores to move past Liv Stokes (CAN) and keep her Huntington momentum.
Breakout heats from Australia’s Kai Ellice-Flint, who posted the event’s first excellent score, and Cole Robbins (USA), back in top form after reclaiming his regional title, provided shakeups for several world title hopefuls. Both Ellice-Flint and Robbins now set their sights on the biggest matchups yet, joined by fellow contenders Declan Wyton (AUS), Rogelio JR Esquievel (PHL), and defending event winner Kaniela Stewart (HAW).
Brazil’s Chloe Calmon and U.S. star Soleil Errico emerged victorious in dramatic R16 duels—Calmon overcoming tough high tide against Alice Lemoigne (FRA), and Errico claiming her fourth consecutive US Open Quarterfinal in a narrow faceoff with wildcard Chloe Coleman (USA).
With legacies on the line and the beach primed for drama, organizers will reconvene July 29 for a likely 7:05 a.m. Finals Day start. Expect classic Huntington heroics as world champs, hungry rookies, and local legends all fight to etch their names in longboard lore.
