In the final group stage match in Group B, Brazil and Colombia battled to a scoreless draw, as both sides tried to improve their position. While Brazil finished in first place and Colombia finished in second place, both sides battled like it was a ten-round boxing match, and we saw a lot of fouls that were probably considered more than the few yellows each side got.
However, in the 22nd minute, Brazil began to face numerical trouble. Colombia was attacking with the ball, as Leicy Santos got ahead and split the two defenders. As she took a long shot towards the Brazilian net, Lorena came off her line and outside the area to stop the ball, by jumping in the air and chesting it, but she used her left arm to stop the ball.
The referee originally issued her a yellow card. Still, after having a conversation with the far side assistant, the referee turned around and ran back at Lorena, pulled out the yellow card again, waved her arms to wipe it out, and returned the card to her front pocket, while reaching for her back pocket and pulled out the red card in the 24th minute to put Brazil down to ten women.
Brazil made the goalkeeper substitution as backup keeper Claudia subbed in to replace Jhonson in the 28th minute, but she did an amazing job in the net to keep Colombia off the scoreboard, just like Katherine Tapia did against Brazil. Plenty of missed shots as well, but it looked like there might be a goal from Brazil in second half stoppage time, sadly, they hit the back post and out.
Now, Brazil finishes in first place with 10 points, Colombia in second with eight points, Paraguay in third place, Venezuela in fourth place with four points, and Bolivia finishes in last place with no points. The semi-finals will have Argentina facing Colombia and Brazil Vs. Uruguay. The fifth-place match will be between Chile and [team name]. Paraguay. Get ready for the Semis in the Copa America Femenina.
