On the final group stage match in Group C of the 2025 UEFA Women’s Euros, Poland and Denmark battled to see who would finish in third place. While these two sides played for pride, we got another fabulous match filled with action and desire. But after the full 90 minutes were over, it would be the Poles who took the victory as they defeated the Danes by a final score of three goals to two.
Poland struck first in the 13th minute, as they attacked down the pitch. Ewelina Camczyk worked well with Natalia Padilla down the near side. As Eweczyk got closer to the end line, she crossed the ball to a teammate, but the Danish goalkeeper, Maja Bay Østergaard, made the stop, but left the rebound for Padilla, and she scored inside the far post.

In the 20th minute, Denmark tried to make an attacking run, but they lost the ball. Eweczyk retrieved it and started her counterattack, finding Padilla down the near side. As she attacked toward the endline, Padilla crossed it to the far side of the area, and running toward the net was Captain Ewe Pajor, as she got to the ball and with a snap header beat Østergaard.
Just one minute before the hour mark came, Denmark pulled one back to get into the match. The ball was along the far side, and a pass was made toward the middle of the pitch toward Janni Thomson. Once she settled the ball, she made a move toward her left, then took a hard shot that looked to have been stopped by Polish goalkeeper Kinga Szemik, but the ball deflected off her gloves, over her head, and into the net.

Denmark thought they converted the equalizer, but on a VAR check, it was wiped out due to the play in an offside position. Poland regained their two-goal lead in the 76th minute, with Martyna Wiankowska starting and finishing the play as the goal scorer. She brought up the ball and passed it to Pajor on the near side, crossing it toward Padilla. She swung and missed, but somehow deflected the ball off herself and found Wiankowska, who smashed it in.

Even though Signe Bruun pulled a second goal back for Denmark in the 83rd minute, once this match came to an end, Poland would take the full three points in this one. While these two sides are going home after their group stage games ended, both showed class and guts to play against two powerhouse sides in Sweden and Germany, who continue to show why they are some of the elite national teams in Women’s European Football.
