The new kids could get a game
With the success from the September/October combined window with the new kids who were coming from MLS Clubs through their academies, and a few of the young kids coming over from Europe, Pochettino is giving these players an opportunity after four successful matches against Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Canada. Julian Hall scored a goal in three consecutive games, Justin Ellis earned two goals, and, of course, Cavan Sullivan became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the U.S. Men’s National Team after Mathis Albert had the record three days between games. This is a big opportunity for those players, especially those who are dual citizens who can officially be cap-tied to the USA.
The return of Christian Pulisic
After getting subbed out of the World Cup Round of 16 match against Belgium due to an injury, and recently signing a new contract extension with AC Milan, Christian Pulisic will make his return to the U.S. Men’s National Team. The last time he was in the Nations League Quarterfinals, Pulisic scored a big goal in the second leg against Jamaica. Now he has another chance to convert a goal or two when they take on Haiti in Miami and in Cincinnati.
Mathis Albert can be a game changer
Since he came on as a substitute, Mathis Albert has been that little spark plug who came on the pitch and showed plenty of speed and guile. Was able to get a penalty call against Peru and scored the fourth goal of the match against Chile. The young American who is doing damage at Borussia Dortmund is looking to show once again that he can be that new attacking sensation for the U.S. Men’s National Team. One of the newest sensations that Pochettino has brought over.
Red Bull Tandem comes ready to play
For the entire 2026 season, Red Bull New York has had this connection that continues to create chances and convert them on the pitch. From the season opener in Orlando City to the final match at home against Atlanta United, midfielder Adri Mehmeti and forward Julian Hall get the call once again to play in this international window. Mehmeti plays a silky, smooth midfield role in the attack, as he continues to link up with his teammates, especially with Hall. He also scored his first MLS goal in their road match at Inter Miami.
For Hall, he’s had a good season, scoring 13 goals and 16 in all competitions. He made history, tying a record for the U.S. Men’s National Team by scoring a goal in three consecutive matches since his debut. He joined Alexander Rae and Eddie Johnson on that list, scoring his first hat trick against the Columbus Crew. While Hall still has time to improve, he’s ready to come off the bench for the National Team until changes are made; until then, enjoy what these two players can bring to the National Team.
The hope now is to see progress in an official competition this cycle, as the U.S. Men’s National Team will face an improved Haiti for a chance to advance to the Semi-Finals of the 2026-27 CONCACAF Nations League.
