Red Bull New York filled their roster spot after Gustav Berggren transferred out to Poland. They exercised their option to purchase the contract of Mijahir Jimenez during his loan with Red Bull New York II of MLS Next Pro from his club in Panama, CD Plaza Amador. When he was called up on a short-term loan for the club’s match against Orlando City, Jimenez scored two goals and was already considered to stay with the first team permanently. Now he’s signed a two-year contract through the 2027-28 season and will have options for the next three seasons.
“Mijahir has earned this opportunity through his hard work, professionalism, and development since joining our club,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He has embraced our playing style, continues to improve every day, and has shown he is ready for the next step.”
While on loan from CD Plaza Amador, Jimenez was playing for Red Bulls II in MLS Next Pro for the last two seasons. Jimenez made 33 career appearances, scoring 11 goals and 6 assists, and was part of the Two team that won the 2025 MLS Next Pro Championship over Colorado Rapids 2 at Sports Illustrated Stadium, playing with Roald Mitchell, Adri Mehmeti, Nate Worth, and Matthew Dos Santos. Then he was called up on a short-term loan for the match against Orlando City on August 1st.
“Mijahir has continued to improve, and we are excited to have him with us as he takes the next step in his development,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “Through his work ethic and his commitment in training every day, he deserves this opportunity, and we can’t wait to continue working with him.”
Now he will be with the club for their road match against Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium this weekend.
Mijahir Jimenez is now full-time with Red Bull New York
