Red Bulls Prepare For Charlotte FC’s Visit at SI Stadium

After getting demolished by the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night, Red Bull New York returns home to Sports Illustrated Stadium to face Charlotte FC as they try to climb back up the Eastern Conference Standings. While they are now in 8th place in the table, the club is still positioned in a playoff spot and is back in the Wild Card Round. But now they need to get back to their winning ways, and being at home is the first start for that to happen.

Learning the lessons from the loss in Philadelphia

What we all saw on Wednesday night was not a great match. While it was a slow start, then getting back into the match inside the first half looked good, until the Halftime session came and everything fell apart again. The Union was determined to right their sinking ship, and they found a way with some help from their opponents. While it was a difficult loss to restart their season, the hope is they can turn it around quickly.

“When you have a game that gets away from you a little bit, when you have a game that leaves you disappointed and frustrated, then there’s nothing better than to be able to turn around a few days later and play again so everything about the last 48 hours has been turning the players around mentally physically and you know making sure that we use the Philadelphia game in the right way to understand the things that we got to keep improving, to understand what our next steps are as a team and to make sure that we’re ready to go tomorrow night when that whistle blows,” said Michael Bradley

Charlotte FC comes to town

Without a doubt, this is a big match, and the Red Bulls are looking for some form of revenge after what happened to them in the last match away at Bank of America Stadium. After they secured a late one-goal draw away at Toronto FC, the Red Bulls head to the Queen City and met with a huge tidal wave of goals from Charlotte as they were trounced by a final score of six goals to one.

On Saturday night, March 21st, the Red Bulls were getting schlacked, and Gustav Berggren committed a foul from behind and earned a straight red card to put the Red Bulls down to ten men the rest of the way, which gave Charlotte carte blanche to smash in as many goals as they could. If not for Julian Hall’s lone tally, it would’ve been a six-goal clean sheet loss for the visitors back then. But in this series. the home team always gets the win in their respective buildings.

Red Bulls are happy to be returning home

Their last home result was a draw against NYCFC at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Their last win at home before that was against the Columbus Crew, as Julian Hall earned his first professional hat trick. But now the players want to get back to their winning ways and are very happy to be back home, aiming to earn a win in the second half of the season.”

“It’s exciting to be back home. Honestly, like being— I haven’t been back at Sports Illustrated since our last home game, which was, what, NYCFC. So to be able to go back there, like it’s going to be an amazing feeling being able to play in front of the home fans, especially after such a long break. Like, them being able to watch the World Cup, us being able to watch the World Cup, and now being able to go back home should be really good,” said Matthew Dos Santos

Time to throw away that bad loss, get back home, and return to the win column. Time to get back to work and hopefully return to a positive direction for the club as the 2026 MLS Season is now in its second half. Charlotte FC may have slipped a little, but they are still a dangerous side to face. Time for a victory now and to get on a new winning streak.
