It was a battle of the heavyweights in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the five-time World Cup Champions Brazil took on the third-place finishers of the last World Cup in Qatar, in Morocco. Neither side gave an inch of ground against the other, showing how much they were looking for the full three points in the swamps of New Jersey. When the full 90 minutes came to an end, and all 12 rounds were fought, this fabulous match ended in a one-goal draw.
Morocco takes the lead
The play started in the midfield on the Moroccan side of the stripe. Brazil is playing some strong defense to try to strip the ball, but the Moroccans find a seam to make an attacking run, and then a beautiful chip pass to the running Ismael Saibbari and as soon as he sees the Brazilian keeper coming well off his line, a simple chip shot that gently nestles into the back of the net to open the scoring in the 21st minute.
The new Brazil star scores
When Brazil takes a punch to the gut, they always find a way to get back into the match and level it. That finally happened after being down by a goal. They controlled the ball around the far side of the pitch and were looking for a weak spot to score the goal. When Vinicius Jr. got control of the ball, he danced around inside the Moroccan area. He finally made a move toward a bit inside, and when he saw the space, he took a big shot and equalized the match in the 32nd minute
Both teams were looking for a go-ahead goal, but got none
Throughout the second half, both teams were fighting against each other, looking for a second goal to take control of the match. While none came, and they each had multiple chances to earn the go-ahead goal, both goalkeepers were taking the task to stop the ball at every chance they had. Alisson of Brazil and Yassine Bounou of Morocco were doing an amazing job of making saves and standing their ground. Both teams will move on to face their next opponents in Group C.
