Red Bull New York is coming off a victory in the U.S. Open Cup, defeating the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in their third-round match-up. He will now re-enter league play as they prepare for their road trip to Quebec province in Eastern Canada and face CF Montreal again. The club will play an afternoon match at Stade Saputo, and they will be looking for some form of revenge as that club gave the Red Bulls their first loss of the season at the beginning of April at Sports Illustrated Stadium. On a two-match unbeaten streak and three in all competitions, the club is looking to get a victory in Canada.

It was the third match of the season when CF Montreal came to Sports Illustrated Stadium, where they earned a penalty within the first five to ten minutes and converted, then a brace from Wiki Carmona took them down. That was the start of a quick two-match losing streak for the Red Bulls when they visited Charlotte FC and got embarrassed with a six-to-one loss afterwards. But as early in the season as those losses were, the Red Bulls learned from it and got back on track.

“It was a game very early in the season. It was a game of moments. We started well. They were able to get into our box, and they got the penalty. Obviously, the referee goes to look at it. VAR told him to go look. He decided that in that moment, he was sticking with the original decision. Obviously, then we go down 1-0 early. We pushed the game pretty well for the rest of the first half. Obviously, with their man marking, it’s a different kind of game at that time. And then, right before half, we give away the… free kick over on the side where Wiki crosses, and it goes all the way through, and so it was a weird game, obviously, as we always do, we looked at it and talked about the things that needed to be better on the day. But at this point, that is long behind us. We’ve learned in a good way. We’ve improved. And we’re excited now for another chance to go there tomorrow and see where we are,” said Michael Bradley.

Last week’s match for CF Montreal, the club had a one-goal lead and should’ve had more against the Philadelphia Union, who were winless in their first six matches. With the help of Andre Blake’s goalkeeping and two goals from the Union stole the victory from CF Montreal in their home opener after a six-game road trip. Marco Donadel was sacked the next day, and now Philippe Eullaffroy has been named the interim head coach of CF Montreal. Is that going to be a difficult situation with the Red Bulls opponent?

“We have a good understanding of who their important players are. We made sure that we… We gave a quick refresher on that this morning to make sure that we understand, again, some of the individuals. But in the end… Yeah. It’s anybody’s guess as to how they’re going to play, the approach that they’re going to take. And in reality, that is still the beauty of how we see the game and how we want to play, because we have our ideas, we have the things that we believe really strongly in, we have our commitment to stepping on the field and pushing the game and trying to put the game on our terms as much as possible. And we’re going to be ready to do that. And obviously, then, within the game. Thank you. We, you know, we talk all the time about being fluid. Being able to have a team full of guys that think quickly, stay connected, understand how to take in the information from the game at any moment, and use it to make the best decisions in the best place,” said Bradley

Robert Voloder‘s first season with the Red Bulls has looked solid at this moment, if not for the VAR calling off his goal at Inter Miami due to Cade Cowell being slightly offside by a full toe. He would’ve had his first goal of the season. But it was his foul against Montreal that gave them the penalty in the last game. What has to change for the Red Bulls now that they are traveling to Montreal, and from a player’s perspective, what do they need to do to change things up against an interim head coach?

“Well, we definitely looked at the past game we played against Montreal. Now it’s obviously also going to be a little bit different with a new. As a new coach, we can’t really tell if the system is going to change. We will be prepared for everything that can come to us. I think we are more than enough prepared for whatever way they want to play, and we’re going to come after them,” said Robert Voloder

Since Bradley was announced as the head coach of the Red Bulls, he has allowed Julian Hall to become the starting striker for the Red Bulls, and in eight matches in all competitions, he has scored seven goals and two assists. He’s also had two multi-goal games in all competitions. While he has a strong veteran in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, he’s excited to see Hall exploding on the pitch, and he also knows that he can use Choupo-Moting at any time as a starter and as a substitute.

“We are really, really lucky to have two strikers that can play at such a high level. And so the part of, again, building a team, creating an environment where there is real competition every day, where we are challenging every single player and the group to. Take our ideas, to bring them to life, to be able to execute them better, and to be able to sustain it all for longer periods of time. Like, that is. That’s what we set out to do every single day. And the group has responded. In such a positive way. Obviously, at the beginning of the season, we felt like coming out of preseason that, given the way that, given the way that we want to play, given how aggressive we we want to be, that Julian deserved that that first chance as we started the season and obviously he has done very well and you know you guys have heard me say many times that.

Yes, the goals, the assists, his ability to help us be a dangerous attacking team, that part has been really good.’ Excited by that, but it is his work against the ball as well. It’s how much he sprints, how much he chases, how aggressive he is, how he is, how he’s able to come from top down and really make things difficult on other teams’ midfielders. And so we, you know, Julian’s had a really good start to the season and has been a really complete striker for us.

Obviously, Chupo and his quality in his experience and his personality. speak. speak for itself. He is such a good player and such a good teammate and such a good leader. And so, even at the beginning of the season, when for sure it has not gone exactly the way that he would have wanted or he has hoped in every moment. His leadership and his presence and his commitment to the team has been incredible. And so we are going to continue to push both of them. We’re going to continue to find ways that we can take advantage of both. Of their qualities and their profiles, Chupo has so much to give still. And we’re going to continue to count on him in big, big ways. Everyone, we have time for two more questions,” said Bradley

The Red Bulls want to keep their season going on the right track and hopefully can get that important road win before coming home to face DC United. These are very important three points for the club and they must find a way to get back towards the top of the Eastern Conference. Michael Bradley knows his squad are up for a big one and they must have another brilliant performance if they want to continue to look good with some of his young players showing they have the right stuff to win matches.
