In Pool D Play the third game of this group was one of the best Caribbean Islands that produce great baseball talent in the Dominican Republic, as they took on the American Jewish ballplayers representing Israel in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Once again, another loopsided victory for the Dominicans, as they poured it on in all nine innings of their pool play. The victory for the Dominican Republic allowed them to advance to the next round as they defeated Israel by a final score of 10 to 1.
Game Recap:
Fernando Tatis took care of the majority of the runs as he belted a Grand Slam over the Left Field Wall at Loan Depot Park in the top of the second, and a two-run RBI single down the left field line, and reached second base on the throw in the top of the seventh. The first run of the game was scored at the top of the second when Geraldo Perdomo had the bases loaded and was given a walk to bring in a run. O’Neill Cruz added a solo home run that just cleared the right centerfield wall in the top of thefourth. Then several runs scored on a groundout or a sacrifice fly in the later innings. Israel’s only run came from a solo home run from Spencer Horowitz in the bottom of the fourth, but that was all Israel was going to get.
Brayan Bello had a strong start, going five innings with seven strikeouts, and never allowed a walk. The bullpen for the Dominican Republic was solid as Gregory Soto, Carlos Estevez, Wandy Peralta, and Seranthony Dominguez pitched an inning each and earned holds to make sure they secure the victory. For Israel, it was another valiant effort from Israel, but they were easily outmatched against a very strong and talented Dominican Republic side.
Israel will face the Netherlands next, while the Dominican Republic will face Venezuela
