Red Bull New York has received Belgium youth defender Joyeux Masanka Bungi from their sister club RB Leipzig from the German Bundesliga on a short-term loan till the end of June 2026. He will play in MLS till the 30th of June, then he will return for the new Bundesliga season in the 2026-2027 season.
“We’re pleased to welcome Joyeux on loan from RB Leipzig,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He’s a talented young player with strong technical quality, and we believe this will be an important step in his development while adding to our group.”
The 19-year-old from Berchem-Saint-Agathe, Belgium, comes over on loan after signing with RB Leipzig on February 7th, 2025. He was promoted from the RB Leipzig academy after signing with them in 2023, and made 56 appearances between the U-17 and U-19 teams, converting 10 goals and eight assists. The defender helped the U-17 side reach the Semi-Finals of the Grtmsn Chsmpionship in 2024.
“Joyeux is a talented young player with a strong mentality, and we are looking forward to working with him,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We are excited to help him continue his development.”
