Army and Marist squared off in what was billed as a routine early-season clash, but on the courts, nothing was routine—except, maybe, for Army’s dominance and Marist’s heartbreak. Let’s dig in and see how the action unfolded, because we don’t do box scores and snooze fests here.

Doubles: Momentum Swings Before Anyone Blinks

If you blinked, you probably missed the doubles. Army’s pairs came out with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, steamrolling Marist in rapid-fire fashion. Viktoria Lorentzon and Tessa Wachtel (Marist) barely had time to break a sweat before Isabella Brilliant and Madison Smith (Army) iced it, 5-0. That’s not a typo—five, zip, shutout city.

The other Marist teams? Same story, different court. Caterina Assi and Vihana Shresta showed some hustle—Assi even fired off a fist pump after saving a break point early on—but were sent packing 6-2 by Emily Ruckno and Olivia Mellynchuk.
